American F-15E Strike Eagle Engines

still more useful than LGBs and such, especially now that you can easily destroy them with missiles.

Don’t get me wrong I still think the F-15E should get the -229 engines, but at the same time I think the 15I should get a maverick style weapon as well.

Well, also fair point.

Maybe search for some GBU-15 with Amraams/other A-A weapons?
Idk what will glide better in that comparison even

The AF flies both. From what i have gathered every F-15 that has participated in joint euro exercises has been the 229. I may be wrong but the 229 squadrons might be stationed OCONUS while the 220 are stationed CONUS.

Odds are good for 220s to still be OCONUS though cause from what I understand the AF only has 2 squadrons with 229s the rest went and had the 220(e) upgrade to extend maintenance cycles.

There are still squadrons today running exclusively 220s… either option is “historically accurate” It is ONLY a balance argument. It’s close to 50/50 of the fleet either direction. All the 87, 88, 89, and like half the 90 tails are 220s. Production didn’t instantly swap to 229 after it’s first flight.

From what I read i take it you are active airforce. Is the 229 more common OCONUS or CONUS?

you know what isnt historically accurate, gatekeeping the israeli AGM’s. rofl the day the popeye gets added is the day i gain eternal happiness

Basic gaijin.
Prob “it wont have challenge” in compare to KH-38MT)
Btw, Popeye must be in game along stuff like GBU-53(maybe limited to IR and GNSS only)

my dream is the RAMPAGE for the F-16D

There’s indeed a big issue.
Even bigger one when you look at the cockpit of the F-15E, the cockpit they going for is fully digital which is a suite 4+ or 3+.
Hence, they should all be rocking with 229 not 220

No… just no.

Ah yes nice argument very interesting points you made there sir truly unbelievable

Read my previous message… doesn’t take effort

You say half the fleet is using the 220 while the other half is using 229 he says the F15 in game is using modern more modern cockpit more modern weaponry so that means this a more modern variant your argument fails right here where you are stating since half the fleet is using 220 it should get 220 engines mean while having modern weapons and cockpit contradicts your point

That’s now how it works in the 15E world. Software suite decides weaponry, which the entire fleet is running the same suite (220 and 229). The “digital” cockpit (aka, the updated UFC) was not introduced during production of any of the tails. Wasn’t added until Suite 5. It’s also drop in compatible with the original 7 seg UFC.

The last big batch of 15Es was made in 91 (Some 229, some 220). The 2000 batch for example was only 4 tails. But that’s still before the updated UFC.

Both 220 and 229 are basically identical. Same base capes. Only tangible differences are inlet sounds, flight performance, and exhaust color. Everything else is/can be identical.

Absolute goat. Looking forward to Gaijin’s statement.

thats something ive come to notice, some people cant understand that avionics can be upgraded while leaving other things like engines in there stock config.

We do though. The airframes are identical. The weights are identical. The intakes are identical. The only difference is one engine outputs considerably more thrust, and channel losses could not make up for a difference so high that they would have identical performance because they have the same intakes. A channel loss high enough for similar performance would be 100% a fabrication on gaijins end and not reflect reality.

Which is weird anyway, Sniper would not be much different from existing pods. I think Gaijin is thinking of Sniper ATP-SE pods with gen 3 thermals, but earlier Sniper pods would essentially just be the same as Litening II (at least as how we have it in-game currently). Maybe at most they would have better zoom, but is zoom OP?

Anyways makes even less sense too now because Gaijin is seemingly giving Russia gen 3 thermals for their Kh-38MT users next update (Su-25SM3 will also as result get gen 3 for its internal sight). And China currently has 2 aircraft with gen 2+ thermals (JH-7A and JF-17).

Interesting as far as i knew i thought that the Sniper pod had 3rdgen off the rip and that the SE just improved target tracking.
