I have Lim-5P. And I like her, she’s beautiful. The Hungarians also have one Mig-17PF, and I am about to grind it. I’m just a bit curious, because USSR tech tree has only basic Mig-17. Isn’t it supposed to be in Soviet tech tree as well? After all, it’s originally a Soviet fighter. Or is this just the earlier version of “no KV-1 mod.1942 for USSR” thing? In addition, it is in my recollection that the Chinese tech tree does not have Mig-17PF or Mig-17F, either. Did they really have these basic Mig-17? I thought that Soviets gifted they Mig-17F from the start…
Closest in the China tree would be the premium Shenyang F-5.
Who knows why the PF isn’t in the USSR tree. But its so late that I don’t think it matters much anymore.
Speaking of Shenyang F-5. According to the files I have seen, all Chinese Mig-17 should be Mig-17F, including Shenyang F-5…
Practically a worse version of the MiG-19 and having no reason to add it.
Tor m1
kv1 with the late turret
Mig21 93
mig17 pf
mi 28A
And the list goes on
But it’s 8.7 and would not be competing with the Mig-19.
Personally I don’t see the need for it, but I’m also not against it being added. However, I think It would need to be added as a foldered plane.
This I think, Gaijin usually has little intentions to add unique “minor” nations tech, though they are trying to give them some “exclusive” modifications of leased vehicles. So instead of something like Aermacchi MB-326/339 or maybe Romanian IAR-93/99, which have little potential to be sold to big playerbases, Italian TT is getting an easy addition (sometimes unique at the time of arrival, like AV-8B+ for example) which can be also later added to the big TT.
Although Imo they can add something like MiG-17PFU in the future for USSR instead, but probably not that soon since almost all of their focus goes on top tier jets now.
Would be neat tbh. Maybe also together with beam-riding K-5 and upgrading to 17PFU
