Korhan Unmanned Turret.
- Description:
- The Altuğ 8x8 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV), unveiled by BMC at IDEF 2021, represents a significant advancement in the Turkish Land Forces’ capabilities for modern combat scenarios. This newly designed vehicle aligns with the demands of contemporary warfare, emphasizing mobility, protection, and versatility.
- The Altuğ is equipped with a formidable Aselsan Korhan unmanned turret that houses a lethal 35mm dual-feed automatic cannon that has 100-ready rounds and 200-spare rounds. This allows it to provide fire support for advancing infantry by utilizing APFSDS-T against armored targets, HEI-T against soft targets, and can utilize the ATOM Airburst round against air targets. This turret’s design is informed by detailed ergonomic studies to optimize safety and operational efficiency for the crew. The turret features 3rd-generation thermal imagers for the Gunner and Commander, on top of incorporating the YAMGÖZ 360-degree Situational Awareness Camera System (that’s mounted on the hull) which allows for full coverage against threats. The turret also has 4x RADAR’s to detect oncoming projectiles for the AKKOR Hard-kill APS to eliminate. The AKKOR’s launcher has 2x ready-to-fire munitions to target said projectiles. This is paired with the LUS Laser Warning Receiver and 8x Smoke Grenades to increase overall survivability. On top of all of this, the turret has the AYHTS Acoustic Warning Sensor to alert the crew of incoming sniper fire or other kinetic fire.
- Designed with a nearly “V” shaped hull, the Altuğ enhances resistance against mines and explosive threats, making it suitable for high-risk environments. The armor is modular, allowing it to adjust to different levels of STANAG 4569 or for ease of transport. Its construction allows for ground clearance of approximately 450 mm, providing a robust profile on diverse terrains. The internal protected volume exceeds 15 m³, accommodating up to 12 military personnel — three crew members and nine dismounts — while ensuring a high level of crew safety and comfort during operations.
- The Altuğ measures 8.33 meters in overall length, which reduces to 8 meters when accounting for removable unarmored boxes, 2.67m in width, and 4.38m in height. It features all-steering axles, facilitating a turning radius of approximately 8 meters. Mobility is further enhanced by a powerful Caterpillar C13 diesel engine, generating ~700 horsepower and paired with an Allison 4000 Series transmission with six forward and one reverse gear. The vehicle can achieve a maximum speed of 110 km/h and has a combat range exceeding 800 kilometers, making it ideal for both rapid maneuvers and extended missions. Its design allows for overcoming vertical obstacles up to 0.7 meters high and traversing trenches measuring 2.2 meters wide.
- For operational efficiency, the Altuğ is equipped with a 600 A alternator and an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) that provides 18 kW for powering essential systems such as the turret, sensors, communications, and air conditioning. This setup not only supports lower fuel consumption during static operations but also minimizes the vehicle’s thermal and acoustic signatures, enhancing stealth capabilities.
- In summary, the BMC Altuğ 8x8 IFV represents a significant advancement in the Turkish Land Forces’ armored capabilities, combining potent firepower, robust armor, superior mobility, and sophisticated electronic systems. 29x vehicles have been ordered by the Turkish military with potential export customers examining the vehicle. The said 29x vehicles will begin deliveries in 2027. As BMC readies for comparative trials for this new generation of combat vehicles, the Altuğ is poised to meet the evolving demands of modern warfare, offering versatility and strategic adaptability for joint military operations.

- In-game:
- The ALTUĞ 8x8 IFV will be one of Türkiye’s newest IFV’s, supplementing the plentiful ACV-AIFVT1 IFV. The ALTUĞ 8x8 IFV will play like a highly mobile version of the CV9035 with it’s high rate of fire and damage capabilities, on top of having great survivability due to the multitude of sensors the vehicle is equipped with. While it may not have ATGM’s, it’s APS and 35mm allow it to fight heavily armored threats at whatever BR.
