Randomly when Ill alt tab to check discord, the game will freeze and/or crash. Usually it says the driver hung, but I’ve tried updated my drivers and computer, and this is only a problem that occurs in War Thunder, every other game runs fine.

12th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-12700F 2.10 GHz
RTX 3070
16.0 GB RAM
Windows 11 Home Version 24H2
+1 - usually freeze / hang upon tabbing back in. Audio still plays but input freezes
Just throwing it out there as I started having significant performance hits since doing a clean install of my graphics drivers and thus ended up re-enabling geforce experience unwittingly:
Do you have Geforce Experience installed?
If yes, do you have Geforce Overlay enabled?
If yes, does turning it off improve the situation?
It helped me significantly.
As a further attempt:
Do you have Discord overlay enabled?
If yes, does turning it off improve the situation?
Same goes for all other overlay software you might have.
Yeah, been having this issue since August and making a bug report about it solved nothing. Gaijin wont fix this unfortunately, they do not fix most things reported.

Happens to me as well. Happens to me at least 5 times a day.
Are you coming back from the alt-tab to a black screen, or are you genuinely crashing?
It is now almost six months since this issue was left unaddressed.
The management should stop copying and pasting weapons and focus on improving the bug.
Why is this bug happening so many times a day and why isn’t it recognised and defeated?
I alt-tab all the time, like multiple time per battle, so it will be like dozens or hundreds of times per session - no crashes.
