Summary
Squadron vehicles currently have restricted research capabilities that limit their usefulness in long-term progression. This suggestion proposes allowing squadron vehicles to research all ranks (I–VIII) at standard research efficiency to improve progression consistency and squadron system value.
Problem
Squadron vehicles require long-term squadron participation to unlock.
They do not receive premium RP or SL bonuses.
Despite this, they are restricted in which ranks they can effectively research.
Premium vehicles can research all previous ranks, creating an inconsistency in progression rules.
As a result, squadron vehicles often function as isolated end-rank vehicles rather than integrated progression tools.
Proposed Solution
Allow squadron vehicles to research all ranks (I–VIII).
Retain standard (non-premium) RP efficiency.
No changes to BR, matchmaking, repair costs, or performance.
Expected Impact
Improves progression consistency across vehicle types.
Increases practical value of the squadron system.
Encourages continued engagement without introducing economic advantages.
Does not reduce the value of premium vehicles or premium time.
Balance & Economy Considerations
Squadron vehicles remain less efficient than premiums due to lack of RP/SL bonuses.
High-BR vehicles already require player competence, limiting misuse.
No impact on matchmaking balance or monetization structure.
Example
An aircraft such as the F-16A OCU could be used to research earlier-rank aircraft in its tech tree, following the same rank-access rules as premium vehicles but without premium bonuses.
Conclusion
Allowing squadron vehicles to research all ranks would be a low-risk change that improves progression clarity, rewards long-term squadron participation, and aligns existing systems without affecting balance or economy.
+1 but gaijin is a for profit company. If we do this the Squadron vehicles will likely receive stealthy economy nerfs, or gaijin will conveniently botch it and pat themselves on the back for a half-baked attempt that is a fail in everyon else’s eyes.
look, just chill here for a minute. At the moment, squadron vehicles are pretty useless since they can’t research anything and the stock grind is pretty painful. Giving them the ability to research all tiers wouldn’t make the grind much faster, but it would be fun. Also, it wouldn’t really lose gaijin profits since it would create a greater incentive to GE squadron vehicles
Squadran vehicles are at the end of the day for free. Premniuns, are the solutions for grindng top to down, but they are not always the best. As how @SilentTracker said, the prices could raise, what is not good for evreybody. First, We are mostly not in serious sqadrons, not like pro gamers and YTs. Secondly, maybe somebody doesnt want to grind, they just want to have that one cool jet/tank, and sqadron vehicles are for them, as they jsut want to play toptier without grinding. Vehicles like the T80Uk, Gripen D, Mig 29 9-15, all have the toptier missels, what premnium do not do. -1. Squadran vehclies are free and good/better; leave them alone.
I don’t really agree with this as Squadron vehicles are free and this is basically asking for the premium research range to also be apply to squadron vehicles.
What are you mean by this?
Also your title does not match what your actually suggesting. As your title, poll, and content contradicts itself.
Title says all lower ranks,
Poll says all ranks,
Body says: Allow squadron vehicles to research all ranks (I–VIII).
example says:
An aircraft such as the F-16A OCU could be used to research earlier-rank aircraft in its tech tree
But then follows up with:
following the same rank-access rules as premium vehicles but without premium bonuses.
which completely contradicts itself in the same sentence.
Suggestion as a whole isnt that bad but I dont think Squadron vehicles should get premium research range as even event vehicles don't have that. But that's just my opinion.
What is this comment section. I ain’t reading all that, but researching lower ranks via squadron vehicles sounds not as bad as people portray.
People saying it is “free” are out of this world as there is legit nothing “free” in this game. It either takes your IRL shekels to get vehicle or your time and effort (which can very well be translated into money with how this game goes for F2P players). Even then them sq vehicles are NEVER on sale for SL whenever one is around (unlike GE vehicles). Overall cheaper? A bit. Free? Absolutely no.
And the absence of premium bonuses won’t make them any greater grinders (I don’t think researching lower ranks should only be a premium feature)…
The only problem is the fact that it’s Gaijin’s game and how alergic they are to changes, as having one positive change in favor of players is very likely to be supported by a negative feature, especially when it comes to economy changes.
But outside of that, there is very little to no problem with such change.
Premium vehicles? That’s just ridiculous. Squad vehicles don’t make sense as it is, and now they’re being used for research? I just hope that never happens.
