Allow multiple active Warbond Special Tasks across game modes (with scaling WB cost)

Summary (the suggestion)

Special Tasks (Warbond Shop) should work more like Easy/Medium Daily Tasks by allowing players to progress Special Tasks while playing different game modes — by permitting multiple active Special Tasks, each locked to its selected mode, with safeguards to prevent abuse.

Current behavior

  • When you buy a Special Task, you must pick a specific mode (e.g., Air AB / Air RB / Air SB / Ground AB / Ground RB / Naval, etc.).
  • That Special Task only progresses in that one mode.
  • In contrast, Easy/Medium tasks automatically adapt to the mode you are currently playing.

Problem

If I want to play a variety of modes, I can easily end up “not progressing” my active Special Task for long periods, because it only counts in one mode. This discourages mode variety and pushes players to grind one mode until the Special Task is finished.

Proposal (what should change)

  1. Buy a Special Task as normal (e.g., Air AB: Activist) for the standard cost (example: 30 Warbonds).
  2. While that Special Task is still active, allow the player to buy an additional Special Task for a different mode (e.g., Ground RB: Bull’s Eye), which can be progressed independently in that mode.

This would let players play different modes without feeling they are “wasting” Special Task progress.

Safeguards (to prevent abuse)

Safeguard A — already exists:

  • You must complete an Easy + Medium task to be eligible to purchase a Special Task, which limits acquisition pacing to roughly one eligible purchase per day.

Safeguard B — scaling cost for multiple active Special Tasks:

  • If you have 0 active Special Tasks: cost = 30 WB
  • If you already have 1 active Special Task: next costs 60 WB
  • If you already have 2 active Special Tasks: next costs 90 WB
    (etc.)

Optional refinement:

  • Keep the existing “random re-roll” style purchase option for players who prefer the current system.
  • If random selection is used, restrict it so it only offers modes the player does not already have an active Special Task for (to prevent stacking duplicates in the same mode).

Why this is beneficial

  • Encourages players to play multiple modes without losing Special Task progress.
  • Reduces the feeling of being forced into a single mode just to finish a long task.
  • Still preserves progression pacing via eligibility limits and/or increased WB costs.

Personal context (my use case)

I don’t usually grind a Special Task quickly. I often have one active for a week or more. When I swap modes during that time, it feels like I’m giving up Special Task progress. The proposed system would let me keep playing varied modes while still working toward Special Tasks.
