Suggestion
I would like to suggest changing Battle Pass vehicle test drives so that they are awarded as temporary activatable coupons instead of starting immediately when the player unlocks the reward.
Under this system, when a player unlocks a Battle Pass test drive reward, they would receive a temporary coupon in their inventory. The player could then choose when to activate it during the current Battle Pass season.
Once activated, the vehicle would be available for the normal test drive duration. If the coupon is not activated before the end of the Battle Pass season, it would expire.
This would not make the vehicle permanent, tradable, marketable, or couponable. It would only allow the player to choose when to start the existing test drive timer.
Reason for the suggestion
Most Battle Pass seasons include a challenge that requires players to earn a specified amount of Mission Score while using vehicles from the current Battle Pass season.
For example, in Battle Pass Season XXIII, “Apollo’s Chariot,” the challenge “Companions of the Heroes” requires players to earn 20,000 Mission Score while using vehicles from the current Battle Pass season.
The issue is that the test drive reward and the challenge do not line up well.
In Season XXIII, the Battle Pass started on 22 April 2026. The IJN Suzutsuki test drive is unlocked at Level 9, which is very early in the Battle Pass. However, the “Companions of the Heroes” challenge is only active from 10 June to 1 July 2026.
This means the test drive reward appears roughly seven weeks before the challenge where it would be most useful. Unless a player deliberately avoids claiming the Level 9 reward for a very long time, the test drive will most likely expire before the relevant challenge becomes available.
This makes the test drive much less useful than it could be.
Why this matters
Players who want to complete Battle Pass challenges often need access to vehicles from the current Battle Pass season.
Some players may already own one of the older vehicles available through the Battle Trophy, which gives them another option. However, not everyone owns those vehicles, and the Battle Trophy vehicle is random.
Players may also unlock the main Battle Pass vehicles, but some players want to keep those vehicle coupons tradable or upgrade them for the Gaijin Market. In that case, they may not want to consume the vehicle coupon just to complete one challenge.
The test drive should be a useful alternative in this situation, but because it is unlocked so early, it often expires long before the challenge that requires Battle Pass vehicles becomes active.
Proposed change
When a player unlocks a Battle Pass vehicle test drive, give them a temporary vehicle test drive coupon instead of immediately starting the rental timer.
The coupon should:
- remain valid only during the current Battle Pass season;
- expire when the current Battle Pass season ends;
- activate the normal test drive duration only when the player chooses to use it;
- not be tradable;
- not be marketable;
- not be sellable;
- not allow the player to keep the vehicle permanently;
- and not extend the actual test drive duration.
For example, if the test drive normally lasts for a certain number of hours or days, that duration would remain exactly the same. The only difference is that the player could choose when to begin that timer.
Benefits
This would make Battle Pass test drive rewards more practical without giving players extra permanent rewards.
It would allow players to plan around Battle Pass challenges more fairly. If a challenge requires current-season Battle Pass vehicles, players could save the test drive for that challenge instead of having it expire weeks earlier.
It would also help players who are not equally progressed in every vehicle type. For example, if a relevant Battle Pass vehicle is naval and the player has not progressed far in naval, a temporary test drive could give them a reasonable way to attempt the challenge without needing to consume a couponable vehicle.
It would also reduce wasted test drives. Sometimes players unlock a test drive while they are focusing on daily tasks, special tasks, events, marks of distinction, or challenges where that vehicle is not useful. Allowing the player to activate the test drive later would make the reward more meaningful while still keeping it temporary.
Safeguards
This system would need clear limits.
The unopened test drive coupon should expire at the end of the current Battle Pass season. This would prevent players from saving Battle Pass test drives indefinitely.
The vehicle should only become available once the player activates the coupon, and then it should last for the normal test drive duration.
This is similar in concept to temporary boosters, where the item can exist in the inventory for a limited time, but the shorter active timer only begins once the player chooses to use it.
Summary
This suggestion does not ask for extra vehicles, extra coupons, extra Battle Pass progress, or any market advantage.
It only asks for Battle Pass test drives to be more flexible within the same Battle Pass season.
Since some Battle Pass challenges requiring current-season vehicles become active long after the early test drive reward is unlocked, allowing the player to choose when to activate the test drive would make the reward more useful and reduce unnecessary frustration.
I think this would be a small quality-of-life improvement that would make Battle Pass test drives better aligned with Battle Pass challenges, while still keeping them temporary and limited.
