All the sudden, I’m dead because they snuck up behind me. How?

I am playing on the America servers.

Next time you post a replay showing this happening someone may listen to you.

I usually just drop Golden Eagles on Crew Points, so that’s why. Plus it’s a lot easier to max out the other things like Artillery after a few games.

I’m talking what nation you are playing: Germany? America? Russia? The ones everyone ignores?

FR is now my 4th nation that I am pushing 12.0 ground and with that, when I level my crews first stats I max -

Driver : Keen Vision, Driving
Gunner : Keen Vision, Targeting
Commander : Keen Vision, Leadership
Loader : Keen Vision, Reloading

I do also have a 146 crew on my US.

Now, with that crew stats I should not have a tank render and de-render (basically flashing in and out) at 600m with LOS or at 30m with LOS, never mind without LOS.

It is honestly time that the community managers, tech mods and game masters and forum mods take note of the changes that has been brought to keen vision, vehicle detection handling and the community response and submit the feedback.
I am a average player that plays for fun, I play for position on the scoreboard and not for kills 99% of the time. But when I get artificially nerfed in game I might as well go play BF2042.

EDIT : I have defended the game on many things - Keen Vision and how it stands now I can not.

One thing many players miss about this (and i personally also think that this isn’t really clear by the in-game provided information) is that each vehicle has it’s own “Visibility” stat that change the distance they are detected at. For example the German Boxer MGS has 205% visibility, the Pansir-S1 has 250% , the T-90M has 75% , etc (most MBT’s seem to be around 85-90% with some outliers at ~75% and ~100%)

The following is speculation:
The numbers given in stat card are likely optimal conditions and are likely also effected by other things, such as amount of the tank behind cover, weather conditions (rain/fog/etc) and if you’re facing the sun or not.

But it would honestly be really good with an official wiki post on how it actually works as the best i can find is from the 1.51-1.53 update ten years ago talking about how it MIGHT work after the change…

Tech Mods and Game Masters and Forum Mods are on the same level as any other player in terms of influence on/insight into development and ability to contact DEV’s directly. If anything the Community Managers are the only ones that would be able to do that.

I personally wouldn’t mind the mechanic if it was just clearer explained and demonstrated, so that players know what to do to hide better as well as increase chances of detecting enemies. As it is now the mechanic seems to be misunderstood and/or not explicitly stated and explained enough on how it works. (or i have completely missed information readily available).

Its called “map knowledge”.

Map knowledge isn’t shooting through walls

Map knowledge is knowing which walls you can shoot through and which you can’t.
Abandoned Factory is infamous for having inconsistency there for example.

Major difference between shooting through the collapsible walls in Abandoned Factory versus shooting through buildings in Sweden, mate. That’s my point. I can understand being shot through a cargo box in the Dutch map, but I am going to raise concerns when I’m being smacked by a round in Breslau right through a church.

I started playing 2015 - lost the email to the account and with that the account. I started again in roughly 2018 with now about 5k hours in.
I have a keen eye for bugs and things out of place, things that interact like it shouldn’t and things that bug out. Right now - as it stands and the changes that has been brought to it is not it.

Skylining - a Leo on a rock with blue sky behind him should not vanish with LOS (Middle East - Echo / Delta 8 rocks to Delta 3 rocks)
Trail signature - A 2S38 should not “vanish” and re-render at 30m (Red Desert - A Cap)
A plane should not flicker in and out when you are 200m apart from each other (Wallonia - flying over B Cap) & YES, all the my air slots are lvl 75.

I read the stat card, I have been in game a long time. I know and understand sight-lines, approaches camouflage, skylines, etc.

This went off the rails, so quickly.

If you don’t turn your turret or camera you don’t see nothing in your side and behind you only where you are watching atm with your gunner so the Keen Vision is total BS they chance it some years ago with New Power update ppl can be 10 meters away and you will not see nothing only in replay kill cam

That part is stated clearly in the description of the skill though. You might not like it or agree with the mechanic but at least that part is written out explicitly.

That is not correct, you should have a absolute detection in all directions around your hull of 215m, if this is not the case in-game then that is likely a bug that needs to be reported.

Did you need a replay or something like this? Absolute Detection is not working in Arcade, dunno why you persist.

If I need report this years later because Gaijin is unable to find stuff like this it’s a joke overall I know they don’t give a dime for Arcade but still…

Yea, I get that. It seems like getting fixes for any game is an uphill battle.

Major reason that i won’t ever take ground seriously ever…Too much RNG.
It shouldn’t be there.

You can bug report it here (just search a bit first so that you don’t report something that is already reported and known about): (Gaijin.net // Issues)

A guide on how to report bugs can be found here: ([Navigation] Technical Knowledge Base | War Thunder Wiki)

Bugs can come and go and appear for different reasons and is some cases even be system/OS specific. It’s not as easy as “you can find it easily, it happens to me all the time” because you might be an outlier. It might also be caused by one thing at first but when fixed it can later pop up again but be caused by a different thing. Sometimes things in programming go WEIRD and behave odd for no apparent reason and be caused by completely unrelated things that were changed.

I’m not sayin that this is the case here because i do not know, but what i do know is that if there isn’t a bug report then the DEV’s might not even be aware that there is an issue. Or they might be already working on a fix. Either way there isn’t much to lose on making a bug report for an issue you are having.

It’s a waste of time reporting stuff that is considered Base in-game. I was trying to report things before and get nowhere, so I have better stuff to do than waste my time and live to improve the Game, and going forward and backward with Gaijin support, no thanks.

Arcade has so many issues, but it seems to me they don’t a dime just make it worse every time they’re supposed to fix something.

I don’t think you’re making sense here.

  • “I have an issue.”

  • “Okay, could you give more information so that it’s possible to find out what the issue is caused by so it can be fixed?”

  • “No, i just want it fixed without giving information on what the cause might be.”

I understand the frustration, i do. Honestly though, what are you expecting to achieve and what do you want to happen when the only thing you provide is a complaint on the forum. What are the DEV’s supposed to do with that if they see it?

Or did you just feel the need to vent? That is absolutely fine if that is the case, but then there is no need to be so snippy about it to someone who is just trying to help.
