In terms of CAS, Italy doesn’t get any fire and forget missiles until the AV-8B Plus at 12.0.
I think a basic or “early” version with AIM-9L and AGM-65 around 10.7 or 11.0 would fill this capability gap nicely.
This opens the door for a “late” version with AIM-9L/I at around 12.0 or 12.3 (like Harrier GR7)

There’s no need for an early and late version, the
M-346FT would ideally be added as you said and the
M-346FA would be added at a higher br as it can potentially carry AIM-9M, MICA, and I-Derby ER A2A missiles, it carries the GRIFO-M346 radar.

FA carry Aim-9X
We aren’t getting the AIM-9X any time soon on an air platform, but I haven’t heard of it carrying AIM-9X, I know it can carry IRIS-T

What would you rather have? I believe AGM-65 is an outstanding CAS weapon in and around 10.0-11.0 BR
