THE ISSUE
like the title mentions, the AJS 37 (Early) doesn’t really exist.
As it currently stands, the AJS 37 (Early) is based on 37098, more commonly known as SE-DXN nowadays as it is still airworthy and flown by Swedish Air Force Historic Flight.
37098 was delivered to Skaraborgs Flygflottilj in 1974 as an AJ 37, and wasn’t upgraded into the AJS role until 20 years later on the 28th of February, 1994.
So, what does this have to do with it not existing?
The “upgrade” that resulted in the AJS was to improve the capabilities to a JAS-standard, which included hardware upgrades, the ability to use the Rb 74, the RB 15F and the Bombkapsel m/90, to mention afew.
However, the AJS 37 already present in the game, 37078, was also upgraded to the AJS 37 standard in 1994, with a 7-month difference inbetween the two.
So the “AJS 37 (Early)” isn’t as early as you’d think it’d be, when it’s just as “early” as the AJS 37 we already have in game.
HOW TO FIX?
One way to solve this issue could be AShM weaponry, since the AJS 37 was intended to be able to carry the RB 15. In this case, the AJS 37 (Early) could be locked to the RB 04E Anti-Ship Missile, while the AJS 37 has access to the RB 15.
Another way to fix this issue would be to replace the AJS 37 (Early) with the SK 37 Viggen, which is basically the two-seater trainer variant of the Viggen. Not only would it be more unique than the AJS 37 (Early), but it would also stand out more as it is a sidegrade from the AJ 37 rather than an upgrade.
