have you seen the ai enemies in assault arcade mode?
I’m well aware that the quality of AI would be a major hurdle for player carriers.
But I do want to mention that there already is a very rudimentary user mission that uses the x+1/2/3 target designation to designate targets for different aircraft types. Though I don’t quite understand how that works.
well gentlemen whether or not our aircraft carriers will get added or not we all know that they should either make it as April fools or and event .
If that happens then they are testing the waters. It would most likely in my predictive abilities be a battle of midway event.
we can only hope because its alot better than subs
How I imagine aircraft carriers:
Kinda similar in a way like it used to be in BS:P
In short;
Ship controllable, both directly (like any other player ship) and also via assigning a route on a map.
Can use secondary and AA guns.
Can launch flights of planes (4 or 6 per flight I imagine. Multiple flights at the same time possible).
Can assign a target via map/menu, or fly the lead plane directly, and the flight follows, kinda like how Enlisted squad mates work.
Can assign areas for CAP fighters, or directly control the flight lead, and once again, this flight follows.
This could make planes in Naval also more viable again, because there will be more targets for the AA to shoot at, instead of every enemy ship peppering one single plane.
But this is just my (basic) idea.
I would very much LOVE to have player controlled aircraft carriers!
I saw the future

Anyway it was the most iconic carrier battle of all history so it was 90% going to be that.
Let the guns be all optionally AI controlled. Most of your time is going to be controlling your wing.
to me it’s still unsure whether this is supposed to be an air or naval mode. I’m interested to see what it is nonetheless
Yeah, just like regular ships
I mean all of your AA guns are AI controlled not like your warships where your main guns are fully 100% you. Some carriers get flack guns they might become your main guns. They should not.
They should indeed not be considered main armament.
Can i have a link to this Datamine?
I’m not surprised, but a little dissapointed. Still interesting to see.
Thanks Zabi
Does anyone know what are those ear looking things near the stern of Shokaku ?
I got a flashback from this when i saw them :
Spoiler

I kind of like the almost organic shape they have with the AA batteries and the not-rectangle-like shape they have, unlike other carriers
I’ve got 2 1/700 models of Shokaku and Zuikaku, they are on the level of the flight deck, and very thin. I think personally they may be part of the system for the arrestor cables? Or somehow to prevent planes from falling off…
But I’m probably wrong
I’m not too sure what those “ears” are for, but it might just be little platforms for the “LSO’s” to stand on to guide landing aircraft in.
again, that’s just what I think they are, I haven’t found any actual source stating it.
Edit: I’m starting to doubt that idea seeing as apparently Japanese carriers used lights and not a human LSO (lights pictured below)
