So, carriers are probably gonna come either the end of this year or next year right? With the current game modes and maps. What would we need to really change before adding them?
Navel EC is probably the best mode for them now with how big it is and the SP needed to possibly spawn them.
RB and AB are way to close for aircraft to be launched without getting shot right?
(And what planes would be the most used/best balancing for the carriers?)

Why do you think carriers would ever be playable in-game, they dont seem like theyd ever be valid player controlled vehicles…
Imo, if gaijin made some more/better naval air maps, and put a little elbow grease into reworking the objective sets in Air SB, carriers along with some support vessels for protection could be very nice. Atm though theyre mostly just a floating forward airbase/victim, since they have literally no escort, and their AA is wholly inadequate to pose any real challenge for the jets they tend to face.
Earliest next year I think. I believe this year is for the submarines.
Best mode for any ship IMO, here every ship can fill it’s role, instead of being an unrealistig BB vs BB on microscopic maps
I guess the planes they had historically compared to the specific date of the ship (keeping in mind refits and how they were in dpecific years) and for BR maybe 0.3 br higher than their highest plane, to balance it with air players who respasned in 1 plane from their lineup
Next year or probably year after. With all the hints indicating submarines by the end of the year I doubt we’ll get two new naval vehicle type by Christmas.

They’ve added a number of controls for carrier airgroups to the files over the last few years, so it 's only natural to expect them to come at some point as a result of that work.

this is because they are running forrestal against modern jets. an upgraded Nimitz is more fair. i dont even think they gave forrestal its sea sparrows too

The CV’s AA itself is kinda less of a problem than the fact they literally sail around with no escort, along with the fact the the only carrier that had any real capable AA in-game, the Baku, got functionally removed cuz ppl cried that they couldn’t spawncamp players landing on the Baku.
A Forrestal would be fine if it was escorted by even a small group of ships like some sort of quasi carrier battle group. The recently added USS Charles F Adams with its RIM-24A launcher for BLUFOR and the Bravy with its V-600P and the would be perfect as an intermediate solution of adding ships already in-game as escorts pending other more appropriate ship models. Give the carriers a screen of 6 or so each that only respawn when the carrier does. This way the carrier has some actual air defense, but can still be struck if someone puts the effort into knocking out its escorts first.
That would definitely work, but I also think the carriers own defenses should be modeled well and a better carrier for BLUFOR is long overdue

If by “amazing” you mean “everyone not playing a CV will hate you, but atleast you can enjoy ruining the fun for everyone else”, then sure, it would be “amazing”

how do you control a squadron of planes? are going to go to world of warships routes? RTS style gameplay where CV acts like an arty?
