Aircraft Ammunition Velocities - Where to find?

Good time of day all,

I’ve been having a hard time finding shell velocities for aircraft cannon and machine gun ammunition.

I’ve checked the wiki to no avail and I’ve seen a few velocities on aircraft belts that only have a single ammo type.

Has anyone made a resource, or is there a table somewhere?

Kind Regards,

Lukav

There is this:

https://wiki.warthunder.com/index.php?title=Category:Ammunition_tables

It’s a bit hefty as it’s all the guns in War Thunder (air, tank, ground), but it’s oganised by the gun type/model. In the link then is the info for all the rounds it can take in the various belts.

This is very helpful. If I get around to making a table I’ll be sure to post it.

Have in mind that the muzzle velocity in mixed belts is determined by the first shell in the belt - that means that even if other ammo types have a higher velocity: If your first round is the “slowest” all other projectiles will have this “slow” speed…

I’m not sure what you mean by that.

Are you suggesting that ammo in belts are tuned to have the same muzzle velocity as the slowest ammo type?

Not the slowest - the first shell determines the speed of all shells in the belt.

It’s common knowledge - you find this even in yt tutorials…

I’m just clarifying what you said

If this is helpful, you can use prot anal to see the velocities of the individual bullets/shells your plane uses.

LEGEND! I didn’t even think of that!. This will be very helpful going forward also. Thank you!

This applies to any vehicle, btw

No it just only tells you what the first round is or at least used to show it, but you can easily tell different rounds in the same belt have different velocities in game, it’s especially noticeable on bigger cannon with apt and heft
