It’s going to be really interesting to see what version/versions of gripen gets added.
Not only are there A/B - C/D - E/F there are also modifications and upgrades within those versions.
like, the A and C versions has M17 - M18 - M19 - M20 upgrades (at the least) as well in addition to their base functionality.
i would hope that they add an early gripen A without the AMRAAM option at like 12.0 just to flesh out Swedish top tier. hell i would even accept a B version as a dedicated attacker variant (same with D at higher tier) just to have at least 4 new planes at top tier.
Sweden’s absolute best plane in AAB at the moment is a 11.7 meaning that we face 12.0-12.3 jets very often and having to fight them in 11.0/10.7 planes and even 10.0 if we want to bring a full lineup.
In ARB the top jet is 11.3 meaning again that we face 12.0 and 12.3 quite often making things very uneven at top tier for us.
So please Gaijin, please add 4 different versions of gripen where A and C are fighters at different tiers and B and D are attackers at their respective tiers.
NATO mains are already crying about the T-90M being “too powerful” because “it’s good as T-80BVM”.
You could give these people the moon and it wouldn’t be enough, cos USSR has an only one tank on 11.7 for 3 years.

The C version came 2002 and got many different upgrades over the years, the NATO standard that had the Air refuel capability didn’t come until 2009.
so its still very possible for it to be an early version of the C. but i hop they release both an A and C version at least in the future.
With the new top jets I hope it comes with a raise in the BR ceiling. I don’t want to face F-15’s and Su-27’s in an F-4.

But I doubt that the IRIS-T will ever make it to the game, since that would mean that Germany and a handful of other non-US and non-RU nations would have the best IR missile.

That would be funny but a normal Phantom FGR.2 with SkyFlash pre-TEMP’s and AIM-9G’s is not going to be fun. God knows what the new people are going to be like with only 2 stock D’s.

If they add AMRAAM i very much hope that they cap the BR mm at some point so that jets without them won’t be facing them. because its SUCH an increase in capability and lethality.

They will:
A. deny the Typhoon its signature weapon, because of “balancing concerns”
or
B. (Stealth)nerf it so it is worse than its competitors
FOX3 can’t come until AIR RB is overhauled. 16v16 is pain even now, imagine with FOX3 madness.
Either we get AIR RB EC or the current AIR RB lobbies would have to be cut to at least 8v8.

my biggest concern is the amount of r-27er su-27 can carry also the firepower it has. Since nato planes are limited to the 7M and skyflash supertemp it will be hard for them to do any kind of bvr due to higher velocity of the r-27er. If the f-15 loses track of the enemy plane the missle is gone, while r-27er can still fly without a lock and can re engage. Imagine a squad of 4 su-27 climbing to 10k meters and starting to engage everything they see because their missle allows them. And they don’t need to pick their target wisely because they still have 5 r-27er to go while f-15 or any nato plane loses radar track of its target the missle explodes and makes you to go defensive and you won’t be able to re engage again. To have a chance to kill a su-27 or any r-27er carrier you need to fire your missle first and have an advantage of 5-8 seconds, depends of the distance. I won’t enter in maneuverability department because you wont be able to get too close…
