Playing the Typhoon, aim120b’s are dead when I attempt to begin locking them. The radar lock is good, I am not overspeed, I’ve never encountered a problem like this with any other aircraft with or without Fox 3s. What could be causing this because I’m getting frustrated with losing jousts because my missile refuses to work.
Are you clicking to turn on the missile seeker, and it comes on and then shuts off right after? Quite often in higher lag environments, even 100ping it happens to me.
I’ll cue the seeker head on, and it’ll shut right back off because of lag. Soemtimes taking upwards of 4-5 re-cues before it finally takes and then locks.
I’m sure it’s not a lag or ghost-lock issue, everything is functioning perfectly fine. I even test my aim9ms and they work when the aim120bs wont

Which one? The lock may be being forcefully transitioned to the IRST (present on the FGR.4 (British) and F-2000A (Italian), not the EF-2000 Block 10 (German)) which (for now) can’t launch Radar missiles.
Even though it likely could IRL.
Your radar probably got switched to IR mode and this prevents you from launching.
This is really annoying and is affecting several aircraft. (I got it on Su-34 as well)

Because Gaijin says so. It’s basically the logic the game uses in order to not lose a lock, but it fails to take into account that IRST is useless in most cases.
Play something without IRST.

Effectively yes, but only because Gaijin hasn’t yet modeled auxiliary fire modes for airborne radars.
And probably won’t since people are going to start complaining that the RWR didn’t alert them to incoming missiles (even though said function is in effect already modeled for select TELARs).
Same here. Been having this issue for a while and its make me hella annoyed. I posted a topic here (Why is Fox 3 not seeking? Bug or Skills Issue?) which contains a video of it too. It even goes green for like a second or even double red for split second. Unlocking and re-locking radar doesnt fix it nor does switching to aim-9s then switching back.
Is it a bug? I dont understand how i unlock and lock an enemy jet and it still stays on IR. How do i get it to switch back to normal radar after its switched to IR?
It isn’t a bug.
You can bind a keybind to enable and disable IRST, which only works when you are not tracking an aircraft.

Didnt know it swapping to IRST was somewhat intentional
Only because they incorrectly model how IRST interacts with the rest of the systems on the aircraft to allow radar missiles to be fired on IRST tracks.
Or that 120s should be able to just be "maddog"ed at visual targets anyway.
