Aim120 skill issue

… Your targets are notching and chaffing your missiles. You realize they can do that, right?

Which is why i try to only do sub-10km shots now. They dont work well at range.

They do work well at range. Your targets are just not stupid. If they notch and chaff your AIM-120s, your AIM-7s wont do much better.

Aim7 would fair a bit better due to having a better radar to guide it which makes chaffing and notching little harder. Of course someone dodging correctly will dodge both.

It’s an insignificant difference. You’re far better off using AIM-120s. Anything otherwise is kinda delusional.

You can still guide both missiles with the same radar. If anything, AIM-120 has datalink to continue receiving information when the target is notching/chaffing, while AIM-7F doesn’t have datalink.

If i am jousting then i am taking an ER, i have had a number of successful kills while defending and maintaining the lock

You’re crazy.

Well crazy is what it takes to do well these days, and it works, especially since i would rather play the base J-11 than the J-11A atm, if you actually own anything with ERs i would suggest playing with them for a bit before spouting stuff like you have in this thread.

I don’t need to use R-27ERs specifically to know a SARH carrier has a disadvantage against an ARH carrier. Great try pal.

You seem a bit detached from how long range missiles work in this game, the ER has an unbelievable amount of speed and power which gives it the advantage over every fox-3 in game at long range, at pitbull ranges it’s a risky business to joust but at long ranges an ER slinger wins 99% of the time in the hands of a decent pilot

Ah yes, the entirety of the forum has been covered in “R-77 bad, gaijin nerf” posts for no reason, they could have used the R-27ER the whole time! You’re actually not very intelligent. I’ve fought against R-27ER slingers very often, my AIM-120 comes out on top because i can notch, chaff, and still have a missile on them.

Yet i have almost 10x your playtime, so before attempting to quarrel the game mechanics go and play someone but america and come back

You realise they can do the exact same, just at an 80* angle from you, still effectively notching the AMRAAM and allowing for re-engagement with a missile that will hit first

I’m struggeling with that because I get sprayed byy them from every angle. Can you tell me how to use the R-27ER really effectivly? While notching and trying to survive

I’ve never had them try that without eating my AMRAAM, but alr

You’re the one acting like SARHs are better than ARHs right now. Yeah, the R-27ER is really good, but I’d rather have ARH.

If you’re a good enough BVR pilot (which most of top tier just aren’t they have ARHs and TWS and think they are maverick lol) you can easily bypass the active homing gimmick of ARHs and overcome it with the speed and acceleration of the ER

Personally I manually loft mine quite high and enter a defensive crank after launching, maintaining situational awareness as much as possible, try and sideclimb before launching as it brings enemy attention away from you and towards your team and lastly, ensure that you are confident in the launch, don’t rush it if you get a hard lock tone and make sure your missile is on a better heading than theirs. if you need any more advice perhaps we could do some coaching in a custom.

Yeah I never said the ER can’t do anything, I only said its at a massive disadvantage.

And you would know how? you certainly haven’t played with the damn thing
