AIM-9M misses every shot

That is also possible. But in either case a Aim-9M front aspect bug report, is probably in order one of these days. Though given they wont fix the lock ranges after 3 years. I dont really have much motivation to work on said report

and tell me why now i was on front with su 30 i think and his irccm missle hitted me when i made turn and shooted flares but my aim9m didnt hit him

this game is so unfair some times

AIm-9M uses seeker shut-off.

R-73 uses gate-width.

They have their own strength and weaknesses with the main strength of the gate-width is that its extremely hard to flare at very short range. My recommendation in future is to pre-flare when in a head-on situation with anything

9M is a bit different , other AAMs like the Magic 2 and R-73 work by FoV clamp , thats why they are easier to launch headon.

hey wait a minute i’ll show yall smth

let’s see what y’all say now

Missile fired at 0:57

Typhoon crashes into the water at 0:59

Aim-9M obviously looses lock, goes crazy and just puts on full left turn

His missile got right in front of his plane.
Your missile shut off the seeker ( because it does that whenever it sees flares or rockets ) , and by the time it was back on the target was gone.

he didnt crash into water buy glasses

Are you using client replay or server replay started from the main War Thunder website?
Odd things are often just a result of client-server de-sync.

If you want to share something odd it’s also easier to share the link to the server replay and say at what time it happened so that others can freely view it instead of viewing curated clips. :P

Looks like he does at 0:59 but then continues onwards.

Thats the issue with a video of a replay from a bad angle

It’s a fired missile that goes into the water.

Heres a little thing i made like a year or two ago on a very similar topic.
You are not the first nor the last to have trouble with understanding the 9M.
Whenever you think a shot was supposed to land but didn’t , try and see if one of the scenarios in the images above happened.

Its bare-bones but its mostly true as far as im aware.

mostly what it looked liked to me aswell, i have had multiple times in games where my fox 2 changes target to the missile launched from the plane i was originally launching at

as in the 9M can work from front-aspect, but it is insanely easy to flare from that angle due to the IRCCM. It is way better in rear aspect and side aspect.

Do you know what FOV gating is?

Its also easy to flare from rear aspect but you need to waste a bunch of flares. The only aspect Aim-9M works reliably enough is side aspect.

depends on the situation and where the flares go, 9Ms become unstoppable in a fair amount of rear-aspect shots.

Also does AAM-3 have the same shutoff IRCCM? Feels like side-aspect AAM-3 is insane.

Maybe if you fly slow, but other than that they are easily flared by rolling while flaring a bunch and then pulling away from the blind seeker.

They are the same
