AIM-120C-5 vs AIM-120A/B

The longer the range, the more time the target has to evade. So the Probability of kill (PK) is lower.

Which distances and altitudes are you launching your missiles?

Are you launching at the frontline low altitude players that are often skimming the ground because they expect to be targeted?

Are you launching at the frontline high altitude players that will often take more defensive actions on the first volley of BVR because they expect to be targeted?

I try to target the people behind those, like front-middle pack when doing long range shoots. If you don’t intend to take part in the first trade of BVR missiles, don’t bother with 120C-5s.

If I’m playing the typhoon for example, I usually bring 1 or 2 C-5’s because the typhoon is a good climber and can make some decent long range shoots due to the speeds you can reach up there.

Yes i do keep tws+ on but remember enemy exists and the enemy consists of su30 and f18s and f15e and guess what they do missile spam you to death , so after i launch during bvr i have to immediately notch otherwise i am toast

No i launch them from very high sometimes 7 or 10 kms but to no avail (bvr speaking) aim120c is super worthless

So, throw missile at the enemy to force them into defensive, breaking their own datalinks.

When you give all the time in the world to react to a missile, no wonder anyone capable of defending will defend and defeat the missile.

Literally what i do my man but it doesnt work , and i cant spam like su30s

120C-5 works fine for longer distances but its terrible for close range, use 120B for less than 15km better. Ideal load should be a mix of the two models

its more than 15km

120B hits faster out to ~20km depending on launch speed

I would say that after about 10-15km the C-5 reaches parity in effectiveness, even if the aim120A would reach the target faster a bit faster at 15km, the C-5 will be catching up and have more speed which means that it will have more energy to trade for turning/agility against a maneuvering target at those 15-20km ranges.

The aim120A/B is still better because those kinds of ranges rarely result in kills

AIM-120C-5 should be the same as A/B model but have more range and better tracking. But i don’t know why the C-5 are bad then A/B model. A/B are good for any combat situation then the C-5. I don’t know how Gaijin are thinking about to add a bad version then a previous version. The C-5 would have a good capability when it lunch form a good BVR platform. But in other performance its bad then A/B model.
Hope they will fix this model quickly.
