AIM-120C-5 vs AIM-120A/B

It’s worse than A and B’s period…every reviewer in YouTube already mentioned that…

Why are you coping so hard? All radar missiles have the same seeker more or less. MICA is just as easy to notch as any other Fox-3

CAP. FALSE. MICA is significantly harder to defeat (through notching) than any other missile

MICA has a different seeker which is why it is much harder to notch

Off the rail the AIM-120A/B should theoretically out preform the C due to the C having smaller control surfaces.

My bad

Youre wrong.

At least the AMRAAM doesn’t do this.

In game it does, not in real life tho. There is no state maneuverability difference between aim120c and aim120a. Aim120c accelerates slower on top of that, it should be able to pull more aoa off the rails the aim120a in my opinion.

Whats the source?

Basically every legal, open source out there suggests that the C-5’s main difference from the earlier A/B/C variants was improved HOBS capabilities. However, those sources aren’t high quality enough for Gaijin. The only sources they would allow are restricted or classified.

I just don’t get why Gaijin insists on official documents instead of just accepting what’s out there and modeling based on that. It’s like they want people leaking documents.

Because a primary source is more valuable then secondary or tertiary materials. We do accept secondary materials that aren’t citing each other and are trusted publications. Just because the primary materials have more weight doesn’t mean in anyway that we want illegal materials.

i wonder why random, third party websites aren’t good sources

Well outdated brochures from a Chinese airshow are good enough…Gaijin pick and choose what they want to buff

how is it outdated if the kh brochure was from zuhai 2024… that was only 10 months ago. compare that to aim 120c5 which has nothing like that

When I saw the brochure pretty sure it wasnt dated
2024. It was an older brochure 2017/2018 or something

What I do find funny is there is no proof the G it can pull, how quickly it accelerates yes it reaches Mach 3.0…but over how long a distance. Seeker ok the IR seeker may exist but does it function in game like it does IRL? No and we can determine that by looking at other Russian systems and the developer of the missile stating for moving targets mmW mode or SAL is the prefered type.

Russian seekers are inferior to Western offerings. Brimstone has 3 modes within the single seeker.
Kh-38 has multiple seekers but they are singular.

Gaijin have essentially made the Kh-38 what they wanted it to be in game.
With the only “realistic” part being the physical shape and the aircraft that can carry it

This is about all i could have find about HOBS besides Wikipedia

How is the AIM-120C-5 now?

Trash, I carry 2 on my Swedish hornet for launches above 20 km, within that I was use the a, it’s just better within 20 km in every way. I once accidentally used a c instead of the a within 5 km and it can’t even hit a target 50 degrees off bore within that, while a easily does. It’s pathetic
