AIM-120C-5 underperforming report disscusion

Hopefully c5 is fixed next update

Most of these radars were very reliable before the last few fox3 updates. Now they just let a bunch of stuff pass through.

Any radar that isn’t the rafale one, pisses me off to some degree. Even the F-2A one

Give it 3 more updates and then they might acknowledge there is a problem.

Then after that 3 more updates until we get a lackluster fix.

Welcome to your missile being in British and Italian tt

it wont, everything that is an issue with c-5 is also an issue with aim120a

Yeah trying to use the tansam radar has me genuinely ripping my hair out from how blind and useless the radar is which if im using the ARH missile is a HUGE issue
CLAWS is decent but still not great
and i dont have the SLM or SPYDER so i have no experience there

so every US top tier missile for the past couple years

yeah really us *radar missile havent been outright good since the early days of aim7f.
and when f14a was new and people didnt know how to deal with aim54

9M had a decent run too but they were beaten by other missiles

it was good for a few months, but it wasnt particulary op. it just was good cause it could pull realistic g loads. but it was for a few months only (june to august)

Wrong, the aim120 was literally the best missile in the game when it was released, up until it got nerfed into it’s current state

it only lasted for like 2/3 months

So? It disproves your statement that us missiles haven’t been outright good since the early days of 7F.

And in that time period not only was the amraam the best missile in the game, but it was also found in the best platforms, which gave the amraam such an incredible advantage compared to anything else.

it really doesnt, 2/3 month is an incredibly short timespan. and it wasnt THAT good, it was the best(together with aam4) missile in a meta where every missile was quite strong. aam4 was equal to it, pl12 was slightly worse, mica was much like it is now just easier to notch, and r77s and derbys were very limited.

It really does

Tell that to all the 11.3s that got clapped by the F14 IRIAF. 2/3 months is not short in the slightest.

it was indeed THAT good; the best range + some of the best maneuverability + and other things that i now can’t remember.

And it was found in the best platforms, giving it even more of an advantage.

aam4 was probably the 2nd best, and the pl12 would have been at the same place if it only wasn’t found on the J8F

No not really.

aim 120 on release was a menace, more fin aoa + the 0.3 second delay, before it got bug reported to 0.6 seconds using this chart I’m pretty sure, and the fin aoa nerfed from i think a korean source

Spoiler

The fin aoa is fine, the issue comes down to the Fin Area Multiplier, which is lower than other missiles, and i cannot really explain why.

what is that value supposed to represent ? Is it that they consider that AMRAAM fins are smaller than other missiles somehow ?

I believe so. In the first day of the dev server, when the C-5 was added, it felt really really good. You could hit close range shots that are realistic to say the least

Aam4 wasnt secpnd best it was an equal. Iriaf dominated for much more than 3 months. And every tox 3 was always viable even the weakest ones, pl12(even on j8f it matters) and mica could still compete in the amraam meta. And amraam meta meant more than half the nations were competitive. Amraam meta was arguably more balanced than what we have now where 2 nations have infinetely better missiles and the only other missile coning close being aam4.
