AIM-120 misses

I have noticed many times that AIM-120 for some reason falls right in front of the plane. I launched a missile right at the enemy who was flying towards me without changing course 8 km away from me. And all 2 missiles missed, they track the target, but at some point they take a course too low and fly past. Moreover, it is clear that the enemy was not flying right at the ground.

If you think that I threw a rocket under a strong storm, then no, I launched a rocket at a hardlock from 8 km flying straight at the target.

its called “multipathing”

This problem did not exist before. It appeared recently. And specifically with the AIM-120.

Besides, I was firing a missile on a collision course. So your picture is not correct.

No, its always existed, in fact prior to ARH it was set to 100m and royally sucked if you were a SARH truck.

But they lowered it to 60m shortly after ARH was added and Im really hoping they lower it too IRL levels. For the AMRAAM i’ve seen unconfirmed speculation that its MP height was about 40m.

You can mitigate MP by shooting down at the target, MP is only truly affective when defending against a threat also fired from about MP height 0-500m. if you are firing at a target that is low from low, shoot the missile up at about 20-30° angle, it should loft it just enough to mitigate MP

Doesnt matter, if the target is below 60m, and the missile isnt ocming down with any kind of angle, it will slam into the ground.

My God, the AIM-120 has so many problems, it’s strange how it ever hits anyone. But the R-73 missile has no problems and flies straight to the target even if you’re flying at 2 Mach a meter below the ground.

Lol, who can compare the r73 and the aim120 :D
AIM120 is probably the best ARH missile in the game

As you can see, the R-73 does not have this problem, it flies right on target, I was at an altitude of 5 meters, flying at 1500 km per hour, but two missiles hit the target right on target, and unlike the AIM-120, the Rada never lost the target.

Yeah, one could wonder why

I have a very strange feeling that the AIM-120 simply stopped keeping the target on the radar, it constantly loses the target, then re-aims again, but when it’s too late it flies past.

and monopulseseekers etc are a thing that fight against multipathing etc

this missile also came in way steeper, which makes the multipathing effect smaller

Are you saying that the AIM-9M will fly to the target in exactly the same way?

He says yes

every radar guided missile (ARH or SARH) is affected by multipathing, the IR guided missile aren’t

R-73 is an IR guided missile and isnt affected by Multipathing.

AMRAAM is an ARH guided missile and is

Multipathing is an affect experienced by only radars, R-73s dont have a radar.

That’s because the r73 tracks heat signatures and the aim120 tracks radar signatures

Yes, though they do have different methods of IRCCM. This can result in one missile being stronger than the other dependent on circumstances of each and every shot.

Aim-9M I fired most potent when fired from behind, but easily defeated when fired from the front.

nah this gotta be ragebait 😭
