AH-1Z and aim-9x

It impacts those missiles’ guidance systems because Gaijin says so

Well not an expert but maybe can give some speculation.
First is they used Free Electron Laser or Semiconductor Laser that has wide spectrum of radiation.
Second it might polarize the lense so both of them can’t use it.
Third is game doesn’t have UV seeker realized franlky game doesn’t have IR seeker implemented correctly all work’s like radar guidance

You wouldn’t be able to do so with a single Laser source due to limitations of the exciter materials, also that would mean the bandwidth includes the entire breadth of the visible spectrum. As it’s not a visible laser this isn’t the case and it would waste a ton of energy due the majority being outside the overlap of the bandwidth(s), and sheer distance between the two bands used by the “POST” equipt Stinger.

if it uses more than one Laser emitter the optical train would need to be incredibly complex and large to bring both into focus in both bands, and both beams to be collimated, phase locked and boresighted together in order to effectively transmit the jamming waveform, let alone the energy requirements of said system would impact range significantly.

Also that as a Rosette seeker, countermeasures are generally not very effective due to needing to overlap the with the dwell time of the seeker (and not knowing where it is in the cycle, and where the Target is in the Field of Regard), which can be easily varied, and has no obvious feedback Also that it needs to also account for; AM, FM, Con-Scan and sector type seekers significantly reduces the available duty cycle of the jamming waveform for any particular, which would have an impact any given seeker reduces the likelihood of optical break lock occurring (sufficient error induced in seeker’s train angle to put target outside FoR).

Pretty sure by visual inspection that they use similar materials for the optical aperture, short of internal filters (which are pretty redundant for a Laser) practically anything done would cause issues with it’s own optical train so preclude it functioning as described.

Good point, might have to write up a 4th Bug report for it, I’ll at least hold off until we see how exactly IIR missiles are implemented, and DIRCM interacts. Since as a pseudoimager Rosette scanning should be included as such.

It probably will need an engine update so i wouldn’t expect it any time soon many things lived a long time without correct implementation maybe will correct it when IIR seeker get to the planes but game is quite arcady so would hold hopes too much

Well what i got from Ru forum is problem with CCD imaging matrix still will be effected by laser emission and both UV and IR seeker will get blinded.

Viper can’t use AGM-114L, since it doesn’t have a radar.
Apache, on the other hand, once tested spike-er and is capable of launching AGM-114L.
It could be introduced as compensation for the limited A2G capability for the future.

You know they have a radar pod for that exact purpose right?

What? There is (practically) no energy in the UV band, it’s an IR laser, that’s the entire point to produce coherent light otherwise it would be incredibly, energy inefficient and thus redundant for said application due to energy efficiency and the limited electrical power available to the system.

The POST seeker isn’t a matrix or a CCD type sensor, though. It’s a rosette optical scan, that makes it a pseudo-imager, with two discrete detectors and as such requires a different waveform.

Basically the image is constructed based off the known rotation rate of both the major an minor axis of the optical train, and the detectors separately and the dwell time of the optical train over the target is both limited and varies.

And if it’s literally blinding / damaging the detectors that would take far more energy than it has available to it to do so over the time of flight of an incoming missile, and countermeasures to physical sensor destruction do exist.

For more I would recommend consulting Chapter 3, the relevant sections are 3.3.3.3, 3.3.3.6, 3.3.4.3 of the following handbook

well, he took columbus’s take, which isnt best source
might explain smth

Didn’t get what Rosette Imaging System is exactly it looks like optical scanner that makes rosette search pattern that creates image of the target using microscopic FOV but it still needs something that catch photons into the system can it be vunerable to the laser emitter ? Or this is wrong ?

Of course it is, but the emitter use by the President-S falls well short of the projected need of tens of Kilowatts of delivered power needed to actually achieve sufficient damage over the flight time of a Stinger.

Let alone that the system would actually be accurate at sufficient distance to be delivering said energy before the missile was effectively in the terminal phase of flight.

For reference a 60Kw class Laser that could achieve detector damage as outlined in 3.3.5.1 in just over a second is HELIOS (minimum range to a hypothetical target protected by such a system is still ~120 -130 meters for successful terminal effect)

And so even in the most lenient conditions it would still need to at minimum a 3.8Kw system, assuming no thermal losses and perfect tracking, and no range constraints (which puts the launcher at about 10km Slant range, and with the President-S reacting outside it’s stated nominal maximum range of 5km as set up to provide System the change to act before the Stinger Self destructs at 17 seconds post launch, 9.6 seconds to 5km).

I hope they fix aim9x its not pulling its full amount of AOA and Gs to pull of 360 degree shots on the dev right now.

Not until now, I don’t.

Well i don’t have access to those pages can’t say anything. Maybe devs will give an answer or feature will be changed
