It actually did become a requirement to defeat a T72 at 2000m with reactive armor, and being able to fire the “AEI kinetic energy round and its successors”. The AGS program had many of its requirements changed throughout the life cycle of the program.
Furthermore this study directly compares the advantages and disadvantages of all the candidates and nowhere for the TCM AGS is it mentioned that it cannot fire the same rounds as the other candidates.
Lastly we have this page from Jane’s 1992-1993 saying it can fire all 105mm KE ammunition

Stopped reading right there.
So at the end? It’s supplementary hence why I listed it last. There isn’t a lot of sources for the AGS program. If you read the study from DTIC you can see most of information from the Jane’s page is actually correct.
Keyword being most and why Jane’s isn’t a valid source for anything.
It has same value as some scrabble written on a piece of toilet paper.
And yet Gaijin have defaulted to using it in the absence of other sources in the past.

Gaijin added things without any source, so Jane’s is as good as that. Holds as much value as an empty piece of paper.
Older Jane’s documents tend to hold some value.
