AGM-65ds are NOT travelling 12 miles

Stat shark is showing the missile should have been .7 mach faster in game. And had traveled 3.94 miles instead of 3.6

This is with the A10 traveling at 350mph, 2350ft and 8.2 miles away from the target

Statshark is saying it should have traveled the complete distance

its showing launch envelopes for maverics (which should be somewhat less than absolute maximum range to ensure kinematic range) with the y axis showing launch altitude and lines for different warhead types launched at mach 0.9 along with shaped charge warhead launched from stationary and 100 knots

in all cases that I have tested in game the maverick does not hit anywhere close to what this chart would suggest

I_Like_Your_Funny_Words,_Magic_Man

jokes aside

I know that much.

Im just confused as to which line should represent the missile range.

Then again Im stupid.

the non horizontal lines represent range from different launch characteristics, with the one very close to the left showing minimum range

and then difference between the blue line and the black line to the left of it?

Again, thank you for your patience, Im geniunely dumb.

blue line is for the SAP warhead while black is for the shaped charge, both launched at mach 0.9

AH!

Now when you say it, its obvious. Thank you!

Just replying to someone who said I suck at the game and he is overall worse of a player

Yes they are going 23km.
This topic is blatant disinformation.

Others have indicated the incorrect nature of this topic as well.

I re-read that report. Seems like the speed retention could definitely be the reason. Ofc 10 months ago, just accepted and never fixed.

Yeah… Im fairly certain there is another report somewhere I’ve seen. Or at least a source for them. AGM-65s are missing like 10-20% of their max range iirc

what are launch parameters?

and you know that is slant range while the chart is ground range

The parameters are in the chart and marked. 20,000 feet 0.9mach 23km, which is the max range of the missile in-game.

The chart is slightly liberal with the estimates, but the in-game missile has always done 23km since its introduction on F-4E oh so many years ago.

again if that is what you were showing in the screen shots that was 21km slant range which is not equal to 23 km ground range

also the missile has not done 23km since its introduction because all weapons had a 20km hard cap when it was introduced

20km was not the cap on weapon range, it was the cap on sight stabilization range.
The first thing I did when I unlocked AGM-65Bs on F-4E was do a 22.5km launch against the Tunguska from 6000 meters sub-sonic.
It was hard, but hard is not impossible.

it wasnt a cap on weapon range, it was a cap on designation range so if you went for a shot over 20km your missile would try lock on a spot 20km away from you in mid air
which made it effectively a cap on weapon range

Not even the cap in this case either, within the parameters of the chart you posted, the 13.8 ish NM launch at 18k feet and mach 0.9 has the missile running out of steam about 4 miles to 3.8 miles short of the target.

Such is very easily repeatable in the test drive too, the D has nearly identical flight performance in a launch like this as well which is quite funny given it should have a markedly better range.

You can squeeze more range out if you are well above mach 1, but thats largely irrelevant as this document is subsonic only, and even then, these draggy bricks loose all that extra speed like its going out of style.

I swear too that a few patches ago gaijin said they were going to fix the 65’s drag model, but then come the dev server that statement and the promise just up and vanished, par for the course I guess.
