Again no top tier israel SPAA is a crime

not really, japans type 81 is good and with the osa coming spaa is looking brighter, tor is pretty decent as well. They need to balance a whole lot of nations spaa

Why did the even add it to the game? For megachs?

Type 81 doesn’t lock onto crap for range and short range it likes to go into the ground because reasons.

The whole reason it was a higher BR was because at launch, it had a smokeless motor and uncaged seeker, both of which have been taken away from it since. No idea why it still sits so high. These days even calling it a sidegrade on Machbet feels over-complimentary. You sacrifice the VADs, survivability and concealability for a small bump in kinetics. Not worth it.

Speaking of which, why was the smokeless motor taken away? Was this intentional or a bug?

The smokeless motor missing is trivial compared to its complete inability to lock helicopters beyond like 1.5-2.5km (And even those you do lock tend to MAW Auto flare anyway), and its complete inability to lock planes beyond like 3-6km depending on aspect, at a time when just about everyone has AGM/GBU’s that are launched from twice or more this distance.

It’s a helpless spectator that can’t even get a lock on most threats its being asked to face.

its still a good spaa because its fire and forget and the missile pulls really well

Plus it has that optical contrast mode which lets it lock things like Heli’s / front aspect aircraft a fair amount easier.

I think a lot of the SPAA missiles just have a low initial response time opposed to Russia from what I’ve seen which means they suck up close.

And it’s the single SPAA in game that is almost impossible to use, because some guy decided to put better missile at the END OF RESEARCH.

But muh IRCCM! (Still no idea why they can’t give us the smokeless motor back, strange bug)

Yup.

Until you get MIM-72G (Which takes like what… 100k+ rp?) It’s just identical to its US brother but a full BR higher… crazy.

And unlike it’s US brother, it’s being asked to deal with 13.7 aircraft by virtue of no alternative.

Oh yeah, I forgot they moved it down recently. Also I double-checked the differences between the versions and Gaijin really just went “the Israeli one gets IR/UV, so add 1.0 BR,” lol

UV?

The Israeli one does not get the contrast lock thing like Strela / Tan-SAM does if that’s what you mean? The only difference between it and the US one is MIM-72G vs MIM-72E. A full 1.0 BR increase for nothing more than a theoretical +2.4km of max all aspect. Lol.

Oh, and sorry, technically it has IRCCM too, and the fact i forgot it even had that tells you how good the IRCCM is haha.

They just straight up lied on the Devblog, lol:

From what I understand, MIM-72G has the same seeker that the Stinger uses. I’ve no idea what ‘‘Rosette scanning capabilities’’ mean but for all intents and purposes, Israeli Chaparral just feels like firing a caged stinger with slightly better kinetics.

From what I understand, all Stingers should be able to have a dual-channel seeker, but I guess Gaijin hasn’t even modeled them onto the one Stinger they said should have them.

Would / Should that be a toggleable thing like Strela’s / Tan-SAM’s optical contrast mode?

I honestly don’t remember exactly, but I thought it was both at once.

No, the stinger uses the two seekers to make sure it’s chasing the same target

When you lock it on, it basically sees the IR and UV image and it chases that image. Makes it harder to decoy because you have a to fool both to decoy the missile.

Its not a contrast lock, but it should behave the way the in game contrast lock does

Ah I see. It is surprising how flare hungry it is with this being the case then.
