I was thinking about the issue of adding COIN aircraft to the game, and one of the suggestions I’ve seen is adding them to the helicopter tree. However, I have yet to see the suggestion that they could be given a scouting ability (similar to how observation and utility helicopters should) and whether they can be used to scout out vehicles in GRB using a similar mechanic.
Such a mechanic could be useful at low BRs to help with spotting, as currently there is no means of doings so from the air, however, spotter planes would be vulnerable to AA fire and fighters, and can only carry light armament, so it would be a balanced addition at that rank.
The same can be done for COIN aircraft at higher BRs, where they will have much better weapons and spotting abilities but still have the same vulnerabilities.
+1, that’s actually a great idea, although I still agree with the premise that they either be put in the Heli tree or given their own section similar to Helis
Imho the only way to implement them into the game - these COIN aircraft were made for asymmetrical warfare; implementing them as aircraft would ruin Air RB as they are imho impossible to balance vs regular props.
I was thinking that they could be added in a similar way to helicopters, where one could only use them in GRB for example. I don’t think they would work all that well in ARB unless they have some insane self-defence systems
I do agree with this but I do hope we get some actual patrol aircraft. There already are patrol aircraft in-game, Im not saying that all patrol aircraft should get a scouting ability - what I mean is that Gaijin can treat it similar as to how it treats tanks and what should get the scouting ability. Gaijin doesnt limit scouting to only light tanks, but extends it to some.
Here are some COIN aircraft that I think would be great addition with actual recon ability:
