Add the Lvkv fm/43 (1957): Better, Faster, Stronger. Than the Anti-II & Lvkv 42 and is Long Overdue

The Lvkv fm/43 (1957) should be added because it’s a clear upgrade over earlier Swedish SPAAs like the L-62 Anti II, especially in anti-air performance and survivability.

(Additionally, the Lvkv fm/43 had ~17 units produced for the Swedish military and was actually taken into service. It was Sweden’s only tracked self-propelled anti-air vehicle from 1947 to 1969 until the Lvkv 9040 entered service. The Lvkv 42 and VEAK 40 were both projects that got shut down, making this the only true SPAA representing Sweden’s early forces.)

Firepower

It mounts dual 40 mm Bofors L/60 guns with a combined 120 rounds/min and about 300 rounds ready, giving it a strong firepower improvement. And with dual mounted guns the fm/43 puts out 240 rounds per minute total anyway. Similar to the Lvkv 42, and interchanging fire was possible.

Turret Traverse

Second, turret speed is a massive advantage. It can rotate 360° in 7 seconds Thanks to its Hydraulic Traverse System:

360 / 7 = 51.4∘/s

That’s about 51°/s, compared to only ~21°/s on the L-62 Anti II, more than double the rotation speed. This means far better tracking of fast aircraft and quicker reaction time.

Survivability

Third, survivability and frontline usability are improved. The Lvkv fm/43 has a taller and more protective spall shield, offering better crew protection against strafing and machine-gun fire, whereas the L-62 Anti II’s shielding is more limited. This makes the fm/43 more viable in frontline AA roles.

And the protection for the Lvkv 42 is laughably bad as you can machine-gun the crews heads. and any aircraft will have easy pickings with the crew as any angle upwards makes the armour useless.

Mobility (1957 Upgrade Package)

Fourth, the 1957 upgrade Package improves mobility, with a 300 hp engine pushing it to 55 km/h, allowing it to keep up with armored units and reposition effectively.

(It also receives the improved AP-T the Lvkv 42 has as well as slightly more powerful HE-I and HE-I-T rounds with 870–880 m/s, unclear if it still used the SAP-HE-I at this point.)

TL:DR

They should add the Lvkv fm/43 (1957) at 4.0 – 5.0 as it is basically better in every way over both the L-62 Anti-II and Lvkv 42 in terms of:

  • Firepower (The Lvkv 42 has 240 with the Lvakan 48, The Anti-II has 120, But with dual mounted guns the fm/43 puts out 240 rounds per minute total anyway.)
  • Ammo capacity (still low, but better than 144 for the Anti-II and 104 for the Lvkv 42)
  • Crew protection

So it would generally perform better overall rather than the Lvkv 42 and Anti-II.
