Actual Panther II

not gonna work anyway, german players are the most

how about the gas turbine engine jagdtiger and panther, i wanna see how it performs ingame

This panther II has the HL230 with 700 horsepower at 3000 rpm. As for the transmission, I am not sure if it had the improved version with 8 forward gears a good reverse speed or the standard panther one. Wikipedia stated the better 8 speed one.

Likely faster than the standard counterparts.

Well then it’s a good thing that at 19:49 in the video you posted he explicitly states that it’s the same transmission as the Panther. Additionally you can tell that the transmission itself is identical to the Panther’s if you were to compare photos, and does not match the Tiger II’s transmission whatsoever.

What seems to be different is the steering system, which could be from the Tiger II’s. But this does not matter, because WarThunder doesn’t model it.

I think I missed that. Good to know.

It’s a panther G turret on a Panther II hull which while is slightly thicker, the vehicle it self is not 6.3 territory.

And which one would that be, the ZF AK 7-200 or the strengthened ZF AK 7-400?

That’s not a historical Panther II though. The US put the Panther G turret on so they could test it.

While the Panther II turret was never built we have the plans and the specifications. Just use that. The hull was complete, the gun exists, so it easily fills the new partial prototype category they have for suggestions.

So no more Grant, no more Ram II, no more Skink.

Historical is not of concern here, since they put Maus turret on the E100 chassis. I just suggested this to fill in the tech tree gap between the br6 panthers and the br8 leopard.

Gaijin doesnt need a full vehicle to implement a vehicle, they just need a part (hull or turret) of the prototype to be built and confirmed.

This can fill the gap and be put at 6.3, while the actual Panther II can be placed at 6.7, which is a good for line ups.

Compared to Panther II it’s at least based on something.

Isnt the panther 2 with the G turret plopped on based on panther 2? Not quite getting what youre meaning…

this is the only panther ii chassis

the americans put a panther G turret on it and stole it. took it to america and put it in a museum

In-game Panther II is based on roughly 4 separate projects:

  • Panther II: Historical, it is the Panther II after all.
  • Panther 88: Not historical, and was proposed after Panther II was cancelled.
  • NVD: Not historical, and was built after Panther II was cancelled. In-game they should be options for Panther G and F.
  • Schmalturm: Not historical, and was built after Panther II was cancelled. The Panther II had 2 proposed turrets that pre-dated Schmalturm.

im actually interested in those…
do you know which ones they were?
or better yet, do you know of blueprints of them?

Early turret.

Late turret.

Both have 75mm guns, late turret has rangefinders.

Yeah my point is that it exist fully built, though not operational (a few tanks in wt weren’t operational irl) it can be implemented into good effect by filling up the tt gap.

Seems like it will reduce the gun depression by a lot judging by the blueprints
