bcs its part of the armor and their policy, they will slap this as a sugestion even if this thing is literally whar era attaches to, and forget about it as all other abrams issues
I feel like they’re going to fix US ground in one sweep go. Here’s to hoping
well that depends if they will make abrams model detailed or not, bcs if they do, then they will add it, and i hope they will model mbts armor more detailed
I get killed very often through this Shield; the projectile goes through the shield of the gun. But knowing the biased attitude of Gaijin towards the United States, I don’t think that they will correct this. Abrams SEP V2 lower frontal part NERA has low values, in real life they are higher.
Having this modeled would certainly help with hull down positions
how did you know? sikrets?
There are three bug reports that are a year old, something about fuel cell bulkhead, side armor over ammo rack and turret ring. Gaijin just smacked accepted and forwarded as suggestion, this one will also join them. Maybe in 2026 one of them will be fixed
yeah, we probably won’t see anything fixed until at least 2026
Probably not correct but here’s a guess
Since the thickness at top is 1.5" and it’s parallel to the mount plate of the nera pack, the nera backplate could look like this
(all measured in mm)
1.5" = 38.1mm
5" = 127mm
4" = 101.6mm
Basically 5" in thickness at the center
Could be potentially missing 101.6mm worth of armor at the thickest point
We know the Nera backplate modeled in game is 18mm so I used that as a reference
An increase of 109mm to 380mm would be 489mm which would make the breach very resistant to being destroyed in one hit
I did not model the mounting plate as I do not know how thick that is
I would have a look at the armor thickness of the nera cover as well. It’s flush with the turret upper armor which is 38.1mm and protrudes out passed by the same amount

just had that with the AH1Z HIRSS, closed and asked for documents EVEN IF IT’S ON ALREADY, just doesn’t have the values of the HIRSS in game, even if i showed a thread on the forum, and a document…
edit: of course it’s mod manager #1…

Hi!
Thanks for the replying and clarifying.
Could you take a look at the armor between that and the Nera packs? If you peep the rest of the thread, you’d see what my other concerns are.
Thank you
My pleasure!
I can’t see anything else beyond that; it’s just the trunion shield, and then, the armor module as depicted on the X-ray.
Are you sure the NERA backplate is that thick instead of being a “cover”-like shape? In that case, it may be worth more research!
I can’t say for certainty without physically being able to inspect that piece unfortunately. I can make a guess though. I am a machinist by trade and in order to have counter bored holes, there must be material there to be machined out. You can see the socket bolts in the red circled areas. Alternatively you can machine out the inner structure for weight but I wouldn’t see the point in doing that as that adds to waste and machining time. Plus it wouldn’t serve as armor.
Compared to the upper turret plate, it visually matches in thickness. I’m guessing gaijin was able to measure that properly from the museum off the M1 so I would assume it’s correct. I don’t think the museum would have allowed them to remove anything so I can understand why it was not modeled in game correctly. I don’t know the correct shaped used based off the photos but using what Gaijin modeled for the Nera packs, I’d say that thickness may indeed be accurate.
The screws are fastened to that back piece that I thought wasn’t modeled in game. It is indeed a flat vertical surface so the backside of the nera backplate must also be flat.

Rough model to explain what I mean
This discussion is not about air take it somewhere else

I am right in my assessment. This confirms it
