I mean, shells already have a point which they auto-bounce in game, I suppose this modifier wouldn’t be any different. For that matter, do shells not auto bounce when hitting the UFP?
EDIT
I did test this, and they do bounce, but then the projectile will just go through the weak mantlet or turret ring… welp.
I mean 12.7mm can go through Obj. 279 UFP no problem lol. Its just bad modelling, like how you could find holes on Leclercs, ZTZ99A recently was found with a part of turret that had 1mm armour and stuff, Gaijing is just bad and we have to try extra hard to get these lazy people to fix it.
Sometimes gets eaten though, not impossible, I do remember a time when I had my rounds eaten by mantlet like 7 times in a row, seems like they fixed the ‘bug’ and now it is worse.
I’m joking. But every tank has more or less modelling error just a matter of quantity, here in Abrams it is big, whilst for Russian tanks it might be small. Like the modelling error of ZTZ99A and Merkava has been huge, and so have the Abrams, we just need to get Gaijing to do something about this modelling quality.
Is there any word on it coming back any time soon so the 105mm M1 isn’t just a paperweight tank? It’s pretty annoying it already gets a massive nerf because Gaijin won’t give it any upgraded ammo like every other tank in the game (it literally gets the round it came out originally came out with in 1980). I put in a forum request talking about it the other day and it got denied initially because “it wasn’t historical” but when I brought up the TM stating it was, it was suddenly due to “Well, it’s a BR reshift”.
Sorry I don’t know any plans to re-implement this, I know as much as you all do about future changes, and also learn of them when Gaijin announces them, as I’m not a dev, I only moderate the forum.
I 100% Agree with this, i keep on having people say “Oh the abrams is fine you just gotta play it differently” which is a stupid argument cause im not complaining about it being shit (which it kinda is tbh) im complaining about it being horribly inaccurate to the real life abrams, and they keep on shrugging it off and saying “Well warthunder isnt meant to be realistic” which is one of the BIG THINGS they advertise.
On the subject of the Abrams, something I’ve been meaning to assemble is a report on the turret hydraulics, namely it’s flammability. The US swapped out its hydraulic fluid in combat vehicles in the 70s due to Israeli reports coming in that the M60s tended to catch fire due to the hydraulics, they swapped from the OHT fluid to the much less flammable FRH fluid in the abrams as well as refitting the M60s with FRH.
For reference, the flash point of diesel is much lower at somewhere between 52 and 96 degrees Celsius, which was considered sufficient to adjust the Soviet MBTs so they don’t explode when their fuel tanks catch a dart.
