So you make the leopard, and challengers better than before, but before that you dont fix the Abrams engine sound. It sounds like a air plane engine clearly giving a kill me, im right here sign. Atleast tone it down like the t80s

And it was chosen partly because it is, IRL, incredibly quiet. Way quieter than other types

I agree that the engine sound of the turbine of the M1 variants is simply too loud across the board. However, I like the difference in sound to diesel engines. It’s just… too loud.

Well, incredibly quiet compared to a big V12 diesel anyway.

The issue is it is quiter then turbo diesel engines. IRL I can hear the engines of MTVRs and LVSRs miles away, when it came to the Abrams i usually here the tracks before the engine.

I don’t understand how the high pitch whine of the turbine is so hard to hear. Unless it’s just my tennitus masking the sound.

Some of the sound is at a higher range than human hearing, but really its because its just a steady stream of hot gases that are made laminar (? I think, IIRC) by passing thru the recuperator. Compared to the separate pressure pulses from a reciprocating engine’s exhaust pipe.

Its very high frequency, and high frequency anything from sound waves to radar waves attenuates extremely quickly.
