Idk if its just me, but the abrams engine is really quiet, and makes it hard for me to know how far they are. The tracks are way louder than the engine itself.
Because that’s like in real life. You’re going to hear the tracks cracking more easily than the turbine engine, that’s one of the benefits of this type of engine apart of the output and type of fuel required:
The way it is in game is kinda over exaggerated
Not really. The only thing the game is missing is that the turbine sound is directional. Its quieter from the front than from the rear where the exhaust is.
The issue is tanks in general are too quiet in War Thunder, there’s a lot of noise being made not just by the engine.
I do hope Gaijin goes into more sound design such as tracks interacting with certain surfaces, some of the high pitch sounds some of the older vehicles make because of the engineering at the time, there’s a ton of other sounds but those are just some examples, the Abrams is no exception, sometimes you can’t hear the thing even if it’s next to you in game.
The whole sound modelling is messed up because unless you are shut down and listening, you should not be able to hear a damn thing besides your own engine and tracks.
This should only be the case in a simulator setting. There’s plenty of ambience besides the fact, where the tank sitting next to me should be giving off some sort of sound.
Adjust engine sounds and make sure you have good headphones. You will easily hear it
