I wonder why the B-52H was added without any guided munition, when the H version (actual) its popular bc of the use of them?? If Gaijin wanted an only dumb bomb B-52 they could have added an older version like B-52D. (Also in my opinion the G and H version should have been TT variants, but nothing to do now). Especially with the now permanent nuclear escalation, I think it would be fun to use a B-52 modern munition slinger even if it increase its BR (of course it will).
Also about why it was added without the electronic warfare system that its even visible in the aircraft (tail), considering it kinda had one during april fools, when there are already aircrafts ingame with pasive countermeasures (ircm), a radar pasive countermeassure its not very game breaking considering the actual B-52H BR has to fight with faster fighter planes with guns.
The version in game has the nose sensors and rear turret, this dates it to 1982-91 with other details pointing to the latter half of this time period. Most guided munitions were integrated after this so the choice is guns or GBUs.
Maybe one day they will add a later subvariant with additional countermeasures in place of the turret, but don’t hold your breath. Personally I would rather see a B/RB-52B many of which had twin 20mms in a similar set up to the B-66, the trade of being dumb munitions only.
B-52H isn’t one specific variant, there are many variants of the B-52H.
The one we have in-game still has the Vulcan that was removed with later variants of the H.
Let’s take the Vulcan - the superior Cold War Bomber (it’s okay to disagree - it’s okay to be wrong).
It’s only stand-off weapon was a Nuclear Tipped Blue Steel (chicanery with Shrike ARMs notwithstanding).
Now - following a low-level attack profile - you would basically take off in your Vulcan and be able to launch it from as little as 1000ft. A minute later - boom - target airbase gone.
Now imagine several players in them - the games would be over within five minutes.
I use the Vulcan because it carried ONE standoff weapon which would break the game. The B-52 on the other hand…
… quite a few more than one and yes, they often could be volleyed off from fairly low-level to their target en masse.
Thus OP - the idea of a Cold War Bomber with lots of air-launched missiles (or even one) is ‘cool’ - but in WT as we have it it’s fiendishly difficult to balance…
