Working IOG also doesn’t work against SAMs that turn their radar off.
It doesn’t work with precision yes but it will at least mean that Alarms won’t loft into orbit
Rn they are flying across the entire map
IOG and by extension, GNSS is likely intentionally broken to guide missile away from the target when radar goes off. ALARM flying to Narnia or Kh31PD having very accurate IOG, but offset by about 8km, or AGM-88G missing target by few kilometers as well, result is the same unless freak accident happens.
Blue side AA is artificially buffed and redside AA is arificially nerfed, just like theyr weapons.
OSAs don’t even intercept missle anymore while flakpanzers do.
This mode is blueside pandering at every level
The BUK sites will also turn their radar off when they detect an anti rad missile. And the BUK also has a better missile with more range, speed, and maneuverability compared to the HAWK, and every missile launcher has its own radar. So unlike the HAWK where you can take out either the 2 search radars or the tracking radar and disable the whole site, with the BUK you have to take out every single vehicle because they can just use their onboard radars when the search radar is destroyed.
? s-300s are way more dangerous than samp-ts and hawks, having much longer range as well as only giving maws warnings (at least for the jets i played so far, f-16pobit and f/A18e) since the missiles operate at a radar band their rwrs dont detect. Which is not a big problem per se, you need to notch anyways, in this case simply towards the maws warning, but it makes it way more difficult judging precisely from which direction they are coming as well as their distance being basically impossible to judge. Especially if multiple are launching towards your team (from multiple angles), of which 80% are for teammates, but at no point can you definitely tell: yep thats coming for me (unless you constantly scan for incoming stuff with an aesa radar and judge its heading)
And with their insane speed and range if you miss one, or mistake one as going for an ally thats actually coming for you, it will be too late to notch more often than not, should you be heading towards them in an attempt to take it or other sams out with long range high alt glidebombs. While Samp-t seems a bit better with intercepting ordinance. though at longer ranges it feels like you can mostly ignore sampts playing red side. You cant ignore s-300s no matter at what range should you try to play at higher altitudes. Unless something was changed, didnt play NE for like 1-2 weeks?
ITO vs 2s6 might be the other way round, considering interception rates im sure both are annoying af. Well, you definitely can’t ignore a 2s6 launching at you should you be inside its death bubble the way you can ignore a sampt at sufficient range and/or time to notch. Feels like they are both overtuned and especially annoying when they suddenly pop up like 4 km away from you and launch through an entire forest with you having to pull insane maneuvers to dodge it going above mach on the deck
Where blueside feels like its absolutely dominating over red side is ordinance (especially stealth ordinance) and the amount they can bring. theres 0 russian or chinese jets that can get anywhere close to the amount of stealth munitions any f15, f18 or even f16 can bring.
The RWR on the PoBIT and super hornet is C-K band, and the S300 radar is F/I band, which those RWRs can see perfectly fine. If you aren’t getting RWR warnings from the S-300 you might want to increase your RWR sensitivity.
Damn really? thats weird man…iirc (cant check atm i had it at 70 or 60% simply so it doesnt pick up every floating fox 3 anywhere on the map)
But it never showed the missile symbol with the dotted line like jet launched fox 3s always do. No direction of where the missile is coming from, no distance. Just a launch warning and then (sometimes) a missile approach warning when its usually already too late. would be weird af if a (slightly) decreased rwr sensitivity simply removed all s300 missiles to be detected by rwr…
That’s because its a fox-1, not a fox-3. So it will show up on your RWR as “S300” instead of “MSL”
oh crap, that might be it…me dumb sometimes. So you get the radar lock from the s300 tracking radar and basically only need to notch that i guess? does the tracking radar relock you should you move out of the notch after having notched it initially?
dang i should have watched some sensor view replays -.-
Still it makes them incredibly dangerous with the speed they have, not being able to tell how far the missiles are. Samp-ts are just toddlers in comparison. While obviously, you get access to jets that can take out or disable 2 to 3 entire long range sam sites per sortie, which russia and china simply dont have.
Yes
Probably, idk
Idk, I have never really tried notching the S-300 because ground based radars in game tend to be unable to be notched. I instead opt for just breaking LOS because it is much easier.
Then try to go against SAMPT with the redfor, i went extensively against redfor AA even before the nerf and thanks to gbu39 it was trivial, meanwhile the only weapon wich was effective for redfor was artifically nerfed (kh31) and SAMPT batteries doubled in numbers.
SAMPT just fires blindly at everything, have twice as much missles and radars and are fired all tighether in ARH fashion, making getting any altitude whatsoever nearly impossible and the only weapon against them is now unusable without suicide runs.
Against S300 you need to actually be a bot to get hit, any LOS can be cut easily and the missle will get into the ground, the missles on air are 4 times less and blueside weapons are perfect to take out S300 sites so near the frontline.
Actually claiming that S300 are more effective than SAMPT is today NE is impossibile, maybe you only tried blueside and don’t know how to use glide bombs?
You can easily see the trend by actually playing, in 5 minutes redfor AA is wiped out , meanwhile SAMPT are still all operative near the end of each round.
The situation right now is that blueside has the better long range SAMs, SACLOS sams , and point defence at bases , with better weapons to destroy redfor defences and the Air Rb BR very heavily favouring blueside jets that nearly always can do AA and AG effectively.
Meanwhile all redfor weapons are artifically nerfed.
i notched them quite a lot (though ofc not always able to tell 100% if it actually was coming for me) but i generally try to play higher alt standoff early to get rid of at least some of the long range sams. Though ofc doing that you can easily misjudge and get slimed by one coming for you that you didnt see or mistook it as going for an ally when it wasnt.
Yeah no thanks i tried that for one match and gave up when from 18 launched kh31s and the new anti rad missiles all but one got intercepted. Though, it felt like you can simply ignore sampts at 25km+ ranges (and having used the sampt myself extensively i know how abysmal its range and missile drag is)
True i mainly played blueside with f18 and f16pobit and used stealth glide bombs vs these sams which are insanely effective. like leagues better than anything red side (besides gripen, if you could call sweden redside, they simply seemed to be matched with russia/china each match) seem to get. which i said for me feels like the bigger problem. S300s are way more effective at shooting jets down at long range high alt but they just get wiped by the stealth glide bombs. While they entirely rely on the Pantsirs guarding them to shoot down ordinance, While Samp-ts seem to shoot down everything that gets close to them themselves. Though, if sampts are that ineffective vs longer range jets that are not flying straight into them i was thinking of simply ignoring them, though i only had su34 available so no r77-1s. and just stopped playing red side because i actually wanted to play some sead for once and not shoot at players only for 2 hours straight…but if you dont get any ordinance to do that to even some effect, its basically pointless no?
On the grounds that I fired an ARM at an S-300 site and literally 2 seconds later, the S-300 destroyed it. They can definetly swap targets and guide the missile onto a new target, whilst it is in mid-flight. So I have absolutely no doubt that the moment you un-notched, it would just resume guiding them.
That probably also includes breaking LoS.
I made a post about this a few days ago. It went mostly ignored but they should at least do something about this. They either need to make gbus less effective or make the Kh-31PD more effective in order to balance everything.
Meanwhile everyone else who has neither KH-31s or large number of GBU-39s
Yeah absolutely. No one profits if its this blatantly onesided. Long queue times and people abandoning red side because its pointless, less players playing overall etc etc. Having a gememode this unbalanced between the two teams involved simply cant be good for any gamemode that is trying to attract players. I dont even wanna know the WR distribution (at least for top tier, idk if it is any more balanced at lower tiers).
I was thinking about something like an interception probability depending on the rcs of the incoming ordinance or something similar. i got not idea how they coded it atm though. Sometimes pantsirs shoot down every single gbu53 coming for them, sometimes every single one coming for the sam cluster they are in, sometimes they dont shoot at a single one of them.
And anti radiation missiles seem to get intercepted without exception. On red and blue side…as if it was no problem at all shooting down a tiny deathstick coming in almost top down at mach 4…of which i also cant imagine it having a bigger rcs than gbu53s and the stuff that seems to have at least some “stealth” atm
In return, it takes few seconds of breaking line of sight to neutralize the missile as SAM SARHs lack datalink reconnect, unless you reemerge exactly in seeker FoV where it should resume tracking like usual Sparrow. Aster30/9M317MA/any other ARH SAM will continue tracking you from their lofting trajectory, keeping you in defensive longer.
S300 is capable of guiding at least 7 missiles at the same time, intercepting six AGM-88s and then another missile launched my way, probably more. AI guided SARHs also can and often will switch targets mid flight, from aircraft to missile when it is deemed higher threat. SACLOS SAMs also can do it, though they occasionally get confused and forgot to launch another missile, or launch it with delay when they fail to intercept with missile redirected mid flight.
I think a good rebalance would be to get the BUK M3 back and leave the S300 and patriot as backline, the medium (buk/sampt) should leave theyr radar always on and be a prime target fo HARMS (gbu39 for the blueside too) while the real long range AA should focus only on high altitude targets ( like 600mt and up for a tot time) , to simulate gunners not wasting missles on very low Pk targets.
At that point both sides should start by destroying medium range AA and both sides can do it (kh31 and AGM88G should work wonders withoit radar going off every seconds) while the high altitude domain stays contested longer but both sides should have difficoulties opening it (second line is outside the effective range of gbu39 and the radar turning off should trow off HARMS).
In this way, both sides have something to do in the opening, and even if one side takes the lead, it still has to contest long-range AA.
For the frontline even removing SACLOS SAMs from the convoys would open up a lot more of the frontline for dogfights and skirmishes while enabling attackers far more complex attack runs on the logistic bases.
