About Nuclear Escalation and the Bomber Damage Model by BVV_d

Literally this

Yeah, I’ve come across that effect while watching one of MatAWGs videos

The missile would just hit the ground and disappear, afterwards there would be a bunch of random explosions spawning around the point of impact

apparently that was a bug, it got changed again this patch. it seems they intercept it almost every time now.

I hope will see some of the AA like the buk-m1 and such come in as multi vehicle sams in the tech trees along with that more anti ship missiles like exocets for the super etendard, kh-41 for the Su-33, and the A6 is also still missing its harpoons.

We knkw the answer already
NO

They still struggle a lot to intercept harms. I don’t think I’ve had one intercepted today. I did notice they are a bit harder to dodge now.

Sure you would, the bomber change was unneeded and you broke the game with this ridiculous change…I doubt very much any research was done otherwise you would have known that the allies almost stopped daylight bombing during the war because of the huge losses of bombers…Did the allies convert all their bombers to 50,000 armored sky battleships, no, they did not…The sent P-47’s with drop tanks and P-51’s as escorts, 800-1200 for every day light raid and still the bombers were knocked out of the sky…That is because BOMBERS WERE NOT ARMORED LIKE MBT’s…You screwed up when you started giving rewards for flying into the furball and dying 12 times in every match…You screwed up when you completely ignored all the requests from bombers and fighters to give an “escort” reward for defending bombers, you also screwed up and pretty much killed the high altitude game…All you did is what management typically does when faced with a problem and this is to make it worse…Game is a joke now, all you see now are droves of bombers flying around low and on fire dog fighting because they can’t be shot down…Way to go!!!

Part of the AIM-9M’s IRCCM though wants to shift the seeker fov so that whatever it was tracking is right on the edge of the fov; with the idea being that if the target releases flares, they will almost immediately fall outside the FoV.

So while yes, the missile will track the engine, the FoV of the missile is not centred on the engine.

In fairness JP233 was basically the same idea, and it worked during the Gulf War. No Tornadoes were shot down during a JP233 attack, and in fact the only JP 233 equipped aircraft that was lost was due to controlled flight into terrain.

In real life aircraft flying very fast at very low altitudes are actually quite difficult to shoot down; not that anyone seems to have told the Nuclear Escalation AI about that…

@BVV_d Will we at some point get Stat tracking for Nuclear Escalation?

People will claim that realistic implementation of low altitude attacks will make airfields and bases undefendable.

I personally don’t thinks so, as there’s also defense from above, but this is often ignored, I fear.

Rock-paper-scissors only works when not everybody insists on playing rock… ;-)

@Smin1080p_WT Hello, regarding about transport helicopter, how will they be placed in thr helicopter TT? As not many players i belive have high ranks helicopters, as it is quite difficult to grind them, as you have the option to grind tanks or helicopters in GRB. So will it be planned to be added normally like any other Helicopter or diffrent way other way?
( As i belive, why add Transport Heli if a majority of players dont have helicpter grinded to high ranks)
P:S I checked, nobody ask this question and netheir got a anwser ( in this topic atleast)

Honestly, i personally am skeptical that actually player controlled transports or utility helicopters are what he could have meant by that.

Clearly mentioned is only the “restoring damaged friendly air defense missile systems (via helicopter cargo transport) or rebuilding destroyed airfields” (…which could well be just an AI game mechanic), while the mention of “open up space for new vehicle classes” hints those could be player controlled - with “could” here being the important part…

Still way to vaguely worded to be able to say anything even remotely conclusive right now, so I really wouldn’t recommend interpreting and “dreaming” too much into that mention of an idea…

I do think they will be player controlled, would be such a waste to have them only as AI.

It also adds more options for future additions too. Once we hit 5th gens there isn’t much to push forward with so the devs will have to start looking back at what has so far been missed, transports will allow for many new additions across pretty much all eras.

I will analyse both statements in russian and english:

Original messages

“One of the most exciting features we have in our plans is adding new creative types of gameplay to mission logic. For example, restoring damaged friendly air defense missile systems (via helicopter cargo transport) or rebuilding destroyed airfields. This could open up space for new vehicle classes (helicopters or even transport aircraft), as well as new gameplay that goes beyond simply destroying ground or air targets and that tangibly impacts the course of the mission. We really hope to introduce some of this in the next Major.”

Russian one states that they want to add a “creative/building gameplay” to the mission logic. How can AI transports add a creative gameplay to the mission logic? Player won’t create, won’t “созидать”.

They both state that it will open possibilities for new vehicle classes. How AI transports will do that, if there are already AI transports (transport paratrooper planes in air sim, iirc, cargo trucks, cargo ships)?

Then they say about new type of gameplay that is different from just destroying ground/aerial units. How AI transports will provide such gameplay?

It all looks like they want actual player-controlled transport vehicles with their own creative gameplay that is different from just “running/driving/flying/floating and shooting”.

They can just add them as vehicles that are available in NE mode via spawn points. Without any research. As Strike Drones in GRB or nuke planes in both GRB and NE.

That will be kinda sad, btw, this would mean that there can be like… 2-3 vehicles max, like, low BR transport and high BR transport and thats it. No cool models for our hangars.

We can still change that

I think many transport planes were dual-purpose, as some transport helicopters were as well.

Such as Mi-8, its a transport helicopter, but can be used as a combat one. Then there are more transport than combat helicopters such as Mi-26, but even then it can have defensive and some light offensive armament.

Same goes for transport planes. Most were able to drop bombs and be used as bombers, some had defence and offence armament.

For sure there is a room for transport Helicopters in Helicopter TT, as these TTs are very empty right now. Just 3 branches max, transport branch can be added there. But for transport planes… Most TTs already have 5 branches, some have 4… Only if you add them to bomber branches or in folders…

A separate transport plane TT will be as empty as helicopter TT is, tbf. One, two branches max for every game nation. But if you add there refueling planes, ECM planes/big radar planes, etc, then a transport/support plane TT can be viable. Especially if they will make an option to research it with regular planes, as you can do with helicopters by researching them with ground vehicles.

Oh, also, we could get naval-based helicopters with their anti-sub/anti-ship armament as well, if they will add helicopters to NE. So many possibilities.

C-130 with MOAB would be fun to play.

18,739 lb Filling weight would be deadly in Ground battles and NE.

And giant Tu-160 with FOAB of 44,000 kg tnt equivalent.
