Yeah, the F-5C having less heat signature than a Po-2 is BS, even advanced IR missiles don’t lock that plane until very close
You mean in game or IRL? Because if you are talking about in game then the datamines disagree with you.
IRL. Also, the AGM-88E is not even in the game files. You probably got it mixed up with the AGM-88G, which does have an improved motor
They don’t. See below for better solution
No. Better solution would be to spawn bombers further from the battlefield, behind the friendly airfield, allowing friendly fighters to have a better chance of reaching the bombers altitude to provide escort.
This would also give enemy fighters a more reasonable chance to intercept bombers, especially at lower tiers.
AGM-88A (HARM)

AGM-88E (AARGM)
AGM-88G (AARGM-ER)

as you can see AGM-88E has the same external dimensions and form factor as AGM-88A, and is known to have the same motor dimensions
whereas AGM-88G, has a completely new motor with a 4 inch shorter length for internal carriage, but a 15% larger diameter
What might that be? :O
I just went through a couple of planes and the T-2 ends up at roughly 657°C at full afterburner and the A-5C ends up at roughly 645°C, while the F-5C ends up at roughly 661°C
The F-5C has way colder engines according to the game though, because it has way less thrust
I wonder if they will ever change that heat signature logic to be more realistic
I’m hoping either cluster bombs or MMW guided stuff for nuke thunder
I dont think the frontline density is bad tbh. Its a frontline, its meant to be heavily manned.
As the match progresses and ground targets are struck and frontline SEAD performed, the frontline becomes much more porous, which also makes sense imo.
The one thing I agree on though is that the rear is rather devoid of targets and is currently largely wasted space. Theres really only the long range SAM systems and the EWR’s back there atm, along with the occasional TBM TEL driving around. New target types in the rear would definitly be nice to have, though I can’t really think of many that could have fun gameplay impacts tbh. Maybe command bunkers or major logistic hubs, or underground fuel/munition stores or something that impacts AI units more when destroyed? I think bridges more near the frontline would be interesting as well, but that would need to be kept for a new map.
hopefully its cluster bombs
and obviously the best way to introduce them would be with the CBU-105 due to its low submunition count making it more server friendly
seems pretty balanced to me
I’m pretty sure one with guided submunition would be more load on the server than one with a bunch of dumb bomblets
idk about that, because its ~10x or more submunitions for most other bombs
and these arent truly guided, they are just fused when they fly over a tank
These numbers aren’t the same as heat signature in the game as of right now.
We already know that having a couple hundred of rockets in the air isn’t a problem, but it’s hard to tell what a full load of CBU-105s would do to the servers
Plus it would be pretty limiting for other nations, if only cluster bombs with tiny bomblet counts are “allowed”
Right, now that I’m reading a bit more about these bombs, they seem even more complex and more load on the server than if they were just heat seeking. Their sub-sub-munitions, the “Skeets” scan for targets and either fire a HEAT-like jet at a tank or explode mid-air, if they don’t find a target.
Those “Skeets” also bring the bomblet count up to 40, instead of just 10, which means that other cluster bombs don’t seem all that unreasonable compared to the CBU-105
Yeah, that’s probably the worst part lol
Yeah, F-111A with 8 pylons of FFAR is 456 rockets
But a Tonka with 12x BL755 is 1764 bomblets
WIth multiple aircraft dropping at once… thye might need to invest in the servers a bit :D
Though they dont need any physics really on release, just “fly in a straight line until you hit something then explode” so hopefully the bomblets themselves wont be any more taxing than a battleship mass firing all of its guns
this is 2 already implemented fusing mechanics, in the form of a limited proxy fuse, and a maximum range/maximum time
and lots of cluster bombs have bomblet counts in the 400+ range
even small CBUs like the rockeyes have ~250 submunitions
Let’s say someone brings an F-15E with 10 CBU-105s, that’s 400 bomblets with proxy fuzes that realistically would take heat signatures into consideration to make sure that they actually hit something when firing their penetrator
I am aware that we already have proxy fuzes in the game, but you don’t see a hundred or more TOW-2Bs (or similar weapons) fly around in a match at the same time
I highly doubt that the regular bomblets from a “dumb” cluster bomb would have more load on the server than what would effectivley be 40 TOW-2Bs per CBU-105
And again, if such a small amount of bomblets truly is the limit, most other nations wouldn’t even get access to cluster bombs at all
and if the same plane drops 10 rockeyes, thats ~2500 bomblets, with each having their own contact fuse and timed fuse
the CBU-105s will probably be the lower server load option
and on top of that my initial comment was mostly a joke about how they should add what would be the most overpowered and oppressive cluster bomb for GRB gameplay first as a test
Bvvd, thank you for the share and as always we appreciate additional content, especially interactive stuff like this that includes more of the combined arms aspect of war thunder
As primarily an air sim player, I've been hoping for larger maps and more dynamic sim game modes/events for years, now more so than ever as battle ratings increase, missile and radar maximum ranges get longer, etc.
Will we see the existing NE map added for air sim? Will the new 256x256 map be added to sim? And will the NE game mode as whole, or something similarly interactive, be coming to sim mode? I know the community is small comapred to thr GRB and ARB people, but we’re loyal and really need larger maps and more to do…
Thanks
