There are some maps with non-working af aaa.
map PVP: [Operation] Smolensk. 1941.
Session: Sazae5400251089.
Thx for the information. I watched your replay:
Gaijin Entertainment - Single Sign On
…and saw enemy fighters strafing your last team mate with impunity.
As you specifically mentioned the 1941 version of this map (i play just the 1943 version) you might be not really surprised that this issue is also present in the 1943 version - but there is just one af aaa not working - the af aaa on the other side works perfect.
The non-working af aaa is based on the main airfield next to the town Katyn at Grid D 2 - whilst the af aaa on the other side of the map is at Grid C 5. As from my pov the map 1941 and 1943 version look almost identical the af aaa at Grid C 5 might work on the 1941 version too.
If you are annoyed by this fact, it would be great to add this map into this list of maps with basic design flaws. Please use the post about the same problem on the Poland map as a template:
Unbalanced Maps in Air RB - Feedback thread
You might also consider to create a bug report.
Have in mind the gaijin somehow manages to ignore most of these reports. You can use this bug report as a example - gaijin ignored for 18 months a similar issue; i closed the report as the bugged af aaa was removed from forward airfields.
Edit:
I created a bug report for the map:

So you just have to think about adding your case to the aforementioned list of flawed maps…
Hello Uncle J Wick, something similar happened to me yesterday on the Kamchatka map. Here is a link to my replay. Please investigate. Base AAA didn’t work. I just wanted to land in peace and J-Out, but I couldn’t.

Watched your replay.
It looks like that ot of the 6 af aaa embankments just 2 opened fire. Ofc, just the heavy aaa and not the light ones. Therefore there was pretty much nothing you could do if 3 guys are on you…
I never saw this before on this version of this map - but i saw a similar incident in a downtier in my 3.3 Me 410 A-1 a while ago on another map. Same layout, a larger map reduced for low tier without forward airfields.
As i was not affected i assumed that the heavy clouds (imho at ~ 300 meters) prevented the aaa from tracking, and the strafed NC 223 bomber shot down the P-39 attacking him on the runway, so i haven’t looked into that.
So there are just 2 recommendations:
- Create a bug report for this map and include your replay as evidence.
- Until they fixed the bug report - take enough fuel until or land earlier.
Have a good one!
I’m quite illiterate, could you create a bug report as in the previous case?
I would be very grateful.
Dude - i remember your name from some exchanges in the past.
We discussed rather complex stuff regarding fights vs XP-50s - so your claim
looks like you underestimate your writing abilities by a substantial margin.
I am 100% confident that you will produce an outstanding bug report! 👍
Man you have a good memory!!
I used the wrong word, I should wrote “analphabet” rather. Anyhow OK, I will try to use ingame “report an issue” option.
if you saw my replay, the incident around the airfield was preceded by a chase with 109 E-7 behind me and my two failed energy trap attempts, I know my mig-3, very bad situation for me, impossible to regain energy advantage, maybe i should give up climb and simply running off, but no and after second attempt I simply thought it was hopeless, so I tried to escape to the airfield, land and leave the battle. what do you think? could I have done anything better? I know that during the first energy trap I was screw up my wasd control, mainly rudder and the overruder happened to me, so this attemp failed.
Mhm - i somehow assumed this question 😎
To be fair: Backwards analysis do not consider the dynamics within battles, but from my pov your decisive mistake was to go low to kill the damaged P-40 who killed your squadmate in a B-239.
The 109 E-7 is imho the same plane as the E-4 and extremely strong, therefore i would have never lost energy for a free kill like the P-40 in the first place instead of going for the way bigger threats 109 & Ki-44.
If you look at the speed of the 109 whilst killing the P-40 - u were 2 times faster so a loop might have worked.
After the failed attempts to create a trap: Depending on your fuel (and assuming that you would have been aware of the af aaa bug) i would have extended from the 109 until you would have created a gap of at least 4 km, perform a hammerhead and enforce a head-on.
Why head-on? From my pov your 2 x 20 mm ShVaks outranges the MG FF/M of the 109 by a substantial margin and have way better ballistics which makes them way easier to aim.
Have a good one!
Thank you for your feedback, it matches my impressions, I also immediately thought that it was a mistake to get into such a situation (after shooting down a P-40) and that there wasn’t much that could be done after that.

I caught a Yak-1 strafing my team on Mysterious valley map a few minutes ago.
The replay link is in the report.
Looks like gaijin messed something up…
and even more clouds, I’m not enjoying the game anymore
Clouds depend often on servers and daytime - i play usually just NA and CIS (i can distinguish them by ping) if one gets clouds i disable it, often has the other server less clouds. If both are cloudy as hell: I quit.
Thank you for template report.
I made this one:

I hope its fine.
