So make them french essentially even less accurate? Your own profile picture is part of a tank crew. They used leather jumpsuit with a compact helmet and some times facial protection as well:

I would be fine with them getting one that matches my pfp, but in game they’re currently WW2 tankers.
The Italian Leopard 40/70 uses WW2 tankers. It’s Gaijin being lazy, as they are to busy modelling new Russian SPAAs for the next update.

The crews of East German naval vessels using both West German and Soviet uniforms is another example of an historical inaccuracy that’s presumably too low-priority to fix at this moment.
