I have been doing some research on WW2 Infantry tank proposals and in my research came across some people on line claiming that the name “Excelsior” is a misnomer and the A33 should actually be referred to as “A33 Heavy” or “A33 Commodore”.
If that is true, then the name in War Thunder is also incorrect and I was considering writing a bug report, but I’d also need sources. If anyone has any more information that would be greatly appreciated.
I couldn’t find much information but it’s literally the tank, the idea of superiority in both armor and mobility. Excellence, Excelsior is more an nickname due to the plans for the vehicle as both well armored and mobile heavy infantry tank.
Yes, and I would say that Excelsior is a particularly cool name for a tank (naming fighting vehicles is something the Brits have always been good at), but it appears to be a post war fabrication and the only nick name used in official documents is “Commodore”, though this was dropped and later just referred to as “A33 Heavy”.
