A heavy tank for Israel

Wouldn´t the captured IS3 be a nice addition to the Israeli tech-tree?

Israel only used them as pillboxes, but yeah. For completing tasks while grinding that tree, sure.

I’d be okay with it, but not as a TT vehicle.

They also tried to put a t54 engine in them. Would make a good tt vehicle

They had a unique version.

Why not in the TT?

Hmmm, on second thought… might as well make it TT. The tree is already a mess, they already have T54, etc. So might as well keeping it going.

The tree isn´t a mess. It represents quite well what has been in use. Even though in small numbers or short term only.

I think so too. The IS3 hasn´t been exported widely as other vehicles, but here it´d actually fit.

I guess yes

Although they had their engines removed for this brief period, there was still a time before this where they had serials and were used in parades:

Sadly, a really reliable archivist of sorts that I know has told me this was a myth, in fact the engines were entirely removed. I’m trying to learn more about them now from him and others as we speak, as I’m thinking of writing up a suggestion so we’ll see how that goes.

As far as I know what is limited so but it either was a real program or just a very good myth then anyway it would be cool to see

Tragically no engine is found in this one, it’s a static emplacement and the engine was removed for additional ammunition storage.

Before this (probably), there are images showing they were at the very least serialized while they still had engines (image posted in my message above).

Enough information exists for a suggestion this way, and an addition to the game, but it wouldn’t be “uniquely Israeli”, just an Egyptian variant used by Israel.

What’s the thing on top of the engine bay? Ammo box?

as Basher said, engine replaced with an additional ammo compartment, that its kinda bigger so it excels the hull

IS3-M’s already had a variation of what the T-54 was using. Both used the V54 family of engines with the standard V54 in the T-54 and V54K-IS being in the IS3-M. Only issue is Egypt themselves had upgraded their remaining early model IS-3’s to the M standard without upgrading the powerplant. Thus many of the captured tanks already did not match each other.

According to my knowledgeable friends, the Egyptians used IS-3 UKNs in combat, a modernized IS-3 as you said. They were not IS-3Ms like many believe. No IS-3M was used in combat apparently.

They used them as artillery guns.

They were immobile static hard points, not specifically artillery.
