The Attica, as we have heard from Gaijin, is quite new. However, whenever I play this map, a lot of people seemed to be discontent, even saying it is the worst map. So, since people don’t seem to be posting about this, I 'll take the lead gladly to stop the hate towards Attica. This is a simple guide on the map Attica and how to not hate it so much.
Tip1: Choosing the correct spawn.
This is the map Attica.
All maps usually have two spawn choices; the one between A and B, and the other one between B and C.
I found myself in a lucky situation as I tend to spawn on the C side. A lot of the times, people spawning in A/B zone tend to snipe, and/or are too scared to push, making game-play boring and less rewarding for light tank rushers.
As you see, the blue (ally) and red (enemy) are the most commonly taken paths. (The dotted lines show the shootings.) Zone B is a very competed zone. Of course, you can always take the path to quietly capture the A point, but apparently, no one was smart enough to do that. Why? Because a lot of people spawn with heavy tanks and decide to rush, leaving lighter vehicles less supported.
Then what is the best way? Zone C. Although also a very competed zone, the stadium-like stone building helps. You can go behind the building if you like starting with lighter vehicles (sd.kfz. 234/2, M24, etc.) and wait for the enemy to capture and then flank, or hide behind one of the numerous rocks and attempt to shoot. This is much more convent as the rocks aren’t spaced as far as the sniping locations are in zone B. Also, if you want to take the lead, you can rush and capture the zone. This is very easy as there are stone blocks to conceal yourself while you still have enough view to peek at enemy tanks.
Tip 2: Use a tank destroyer
If you, on the other hand, have really good aim and eyesight then SPGs and tank destroyers like the Russian SU’s and the German Dicker Max, Nashorn, Flakbus, and the Emil are all great snipers to experiment with. If you like using lightly armored TD’s and SPG’s then go for the sniping spots I have told you previously, most AP shells will over pen or bounce, leaving you quite invulnerable in long distances, save for the HE and HEAT howitzers.
Tip 3:CAS and SPAA
I find the main reason that Attica is hated is because of it being a CAS (for new players: it means Close Air Support) playground. As a result of not many trees, flat map, the Attica is one of the easiest maps to start a bombing run. To add, if a lucky chad manages to get a kill or a zone before he dies early-game, then he could simply spawn a low cost fighter with a bomb (E.G. BF 109 F-4 with the SC 250) and start bombing everything he sees. And the real pain? People are bunched up together, begging to be CASed. The red circles I have marked are the places people often visit. A quick tip here is to spawn with a plane as soon as possible to have enough time to start at least two bombing runs.
SPAAs.
I am have a good German 4.3 lineup, and I tend to rack up 1-3 plane kills quite easily with my Ostwind. The blue markers show the most open areas you can head to with your SPAA to start shooting at planes. If you are at BRs 1.0-5.0, this is paradise. A lot of the people are just tankers flying planes or premium I-like-that-one-let-me-buy users, so they tend to just mindlessly head-on any SPAAs, thinking that strafing an SPAA would give them a free kill. But fairly well armored or tank chassis SPAAs are quite durable, even to .50 and 20mm guns. This makes German and American SPAAs really shine in these maps. A tactic I advise you is to go to one of the places (probably mid-end game or after you die ) and shoot a bit at a plane. Some inexperienced pilot would notice you and would likely try a head-on. You should then shoot at the plane, and a few hits should send the bird burning in pieces.
Tip 4: Guide on how to not get spawn-killed
When I checked the post “Worst map in WT” in Reddit, (it was Attica) people complain about spawn-killers hiding behind the rocks near spawn, saying, “The only map that supports Spawn-killers” However, there is a simple way to avoid spawn-killers. (A) Use the other spawn when you see even the slightest hint of the broken shield (Spawn-killer warning) icon. If both spawns have this, use the one you know you can counter. (E.X. Use a heavy tank against an SPAA). or (B) Use the routes I have marked on the map.
The enemy would likely be in the areas marked in red, and thus you can evade them the easiest in the blue markers.
Conclusion
Well-I hope you enjoyed reading about this, and well—have a great day!
