The A6E Tram cant even fly mind you…
Sure, you can get 4 relatively safe ground kills from ranges where theres lots of spaa that can do nothing about it. Even if you know hes up there, you yourself can go hide and some spaa can smoke, you could even try to shoot down his ordinance in some spaa, then he can just target something else. But all of that takes a lot of time, lots of care to not get too close, not get into contrail alt, not get spotted by other planes and is almost impossible with cloud cover (correct me if im wrong i dont even own the a6…). While its annoying that its possible to have cas up especially when youre uptiered that u can do nothing about from the ground, a lot of the a6s just seem to waste so much time, and if they target the wrong players they have almost no match impact. Like, ok, bomb my spaa, its not like you can respawn another one for 100 something sp. Sure theres lots of ppl that dont do that, but you can make them waste ordinance that would have been 10 times more effectively spent elsewhere and send him on a 10 minute trip back to the af and then to climb again…
You can also play the su25 pretty safe checking for spaa first, going for them with the long range tv ordinance then u have 2 laser guided agms (with 10 km range) that u will basically have to guide through the optics of the second tv agm that u shouldnt shoot when u have laser agms left (annoying but not impossible), then use the last TV guided agm and then you still have insanely powerful dumb rockets left.
WHILE also carrying 2 r60ms and 2 r73s.
On a flight model that can beat mig29s and whatnot in a dogfight (if they commit to it and are not the best pilots) and a gun that can kill mbts reliably. Im by no means a good pilot or a good dogfighter and i have still beaten very strong fighters of higher BRs in dogfights (and i have no idea how its possible to justify that) but once you got the hang of that thing and you know in which order you should use your ordinance and you know the workflow it is so powerful.
Dogfighting one of these i can imagine is such a pain in the behind because lots of times u HAVE to stick to the dogfight because u cant allow him to get his IR missiles off. one r73 launch that u didnt see for a second and it closes the seeker fov and youre done for. So you gotta stick to it very close which means the su25 especially with low ordinance is not unlikely to have an advantage…
I got no idea why the su25BM should be lower than a a6 thats just wasting time in space. Sure, 4 of those are very annoying. But 4 Su25bms played correctly are the end of your team…and pose a serious threat to any of your cas and fighters as well.
It has an excellent targeting pod with good zoom and good look back angle. It also has thermal sight which makes it an amazing combo which leaves very little room for improvement like higher resolution for thermal sight.
It sure doesn’t feel very heavy and it can climb decently. A-10 for example is a very heavy aircraft with terrible climb rate and maximum speed. There is no comparison between A-6E and A-10 as the A-6E is far better than A-10 and it can also carry more amunitions. A-10 is just a slow flying gun tbh and with all that, it’s only one step below the A-6E. How unfair is that?
A-6E does lack an internal gun but you’re not gonna need it if the only thing you’re doing is cas.
Sure you might see a random cap once in a while but I haven’t seen many in that br range. Still, solid point but it’s not like you don’t have any choice. Just sacrifice 1 pylon for a gun pod.
I just did a test drive with it and it has 60 internal countermeasures. If you look at the belly of the aircraft, there you can see 2 countermeasure pods between the arresting gear and a tiny bulge. So I don’t understand why you’re saying it has to carry countermeasures on a pylon.
The worst thing you can face at that br is pantsir but for some reason, 11.0 doesn’t get up tiered to 12.0 very often. Still that is also a solid point, only when facing pantsir so I think pantsir definitely has to go up. Other than that, there are 3 more competitors.
Those three are Flarakrad, ItO and Tor which all have 2 things that makes doing cas very difficult.
First is their missiles with 12km range and the second is their good radars and optics which can detect and track your munitions so you need to spend a lot of your time and resources fighting them and then after defeating them you can do cas.
This is only fair as you need balance in the game and this is a form of good balance.
Yes then Su-25BM sits at a very weird spot which is 10.7 and it should be 10.3 imo.
Su-25BM has a very bad RWR which supports only 3 bands ( G - H - I ) so it cannot detect most spaa’s and even when it does detect an spaa, it cannot know what type it is until it sees them.
It has 2 main useful weapon types, TV guided and laser guided. It gets 2 Kh-29TE with range of up to 10km and the rest are either Kh-25 laser guided missiles or dumb bombs and rockets.
Once it fires the 2 Kh-29TE’s, it doesn’t have a way to even see the battlefield through a camera. Those 2 missiles with their TV optics are the only things the plane can use for looking at the battlefield and finding enemies.
The Su-25BM doesn’t have a targeting pod, let alone a targeting pod with thermal sight like the A-6E has so once it runs out of the 2 Kh-29TE’s, it is literally blind.
It is very hard to counter spaa’s in it because you can only lose one of the Kh-29TE’s to kill an spaa and then you have to find the spaa, lock on its position on the ground with the aiming point key bind, then turn on the laser and fire the Kh-25 missiles and then pray and hope that the spaa is busy shooting at you instead of shooting their missile and also, not moving at all and tbh this is the regular thing I do in Su-25BM to even kill tanks so moving enemies are kinds safe from it. Does that sound like fair? It can face Tor with 12km missile so it’s out gunned in every way.
I disagree here because that’s exactly what you’re trying to do. You’re describing A-6E like it’s a trash plane. But it’s definitely not as bad as you make it out be. Also you cannot compare it to the slightly overtiered Su-25BM. A-6E is a better plane. The one thing Su-25BM can do better is defending itself.
However, both of these planes are not fighters so you can’t put all your emphasis on that.
Overall, I’m sure that it definitely cannot go any lower than 11.0 but it sure can go even higher.
Thats why its so good, you can ignore aa and pick high tab players one by one so their team loses best players. And you dont need to spend lots of time, you can gain speed, send skipper and turn away right after spawn and aa wont reach you unless its tor. In tor case you would need to climb yes.
I think this is perfect time to introduce better variant of a6 with more weapons including harms
If thats true it might be better than i thought. I guess it all comes down to how much energy it retains when turning in and out towards/from the battlefield at the altitudes you need to be safe/ish from spaa or preferably above their radar detection? Still, dropping from that far with a long time till impact also means a lot can happen with the target youre aiming for, or some skilled Spaa player targeting your ordinance. In that regard its quite possibly the strongest CAS plane at around this BR for the amount of ordinance it can bring while the Jaguars are just the quicker version with 2 IR fox 2s but only 2 bomb drops?
Still feels like a skilled pilot in a su25BM can be multiple times more effective due to being a danger to basically everything, while also not having to climb as much after rearming. At 0.3 BR lower.
How long does it take for the a6 to RTB and get back to effective alt? I imagine that taking quite long essentially making every sortie a one way trip given how short matches usually are.
The issue is that it has to risk for that and if there is aa you will have to kill it or it will mess with you all the time. And even if you kill it it can respawn second, third or even forth time (3rd and 4th with other aa) because of how cheap aa is. And thats just 1 player obsessed with revenge.
While tram can safely pick actual tanks 1 by 1 and ignore aa. So aa just spawns and sits there useless. And with great optics you can observe battlefield and aquire valuable targets like players with high kill count or ones trying to reach capture zones.
Yes it takes quite a lot but still. If you use your munitions for right targets and restrain yourself from trolling dudes hellbent on revenge, those 5 kills will be more useful than multiple sorties on other jets.
