The addition of multi-vehicle packs is undoubtedly an absolutely positive one, it provides a ‘line-up in a bottle’ for completely new players, players starting a new tech tree, or even experienced players who can buy a few of their favourite vehicles with some nice cosmetics and premium bonuses.
But why is it that Britain is receiving a 4.7 battle-rating pack, when all the other nations are receiving packs in the 5.7-6.0 range?
Surely a pack at 6.0, with two Centurion Mk 1s alongside a Skink or Crusader AA would be more appropriate? The Centurion is undoubtedly the most iconic and marketable British tank, and it was rolling off the production line during WW2, so it’s not ahistorical if gaijin is insistent on these being WW2-era packs.
I would also say that the current pack is not an attractive purchase for new players. The Firefly and Avenger are both good tanks, but absolutely not ones that should be put in a pack predominantly (or at least significantly) aimed at getting new players into the tree.
The Firefly is a glass cannon with a fantastic gun but very little armour, and only -4 degrees of gun depression means you have to have a good knowledge of maps and positions to actually utilise it effectively. Again with the Avenger, fantastic gun and extremely fast going forwards, but paper armour and a non-existent reverse gear means it is extremely unforgiving if you misposition even slightly. Good tanks, but not good choices for newer players.
Not to mention, in terms of the packs containing historically significant/iconic vehicles, there could not be a much worse choice than the Avenger. It was built in very limited numbers, performed poorly in most trials, did not see frontline service during WW2 (or potentially ever), and faded into obscurity.
Even a pack at 5.3, with some combination of Comets and Challengers, would also be a better choice than the current 4.7 pack, although this would potentially also fall under ‘not the best purchase for newer players’, owing to the rather specific playstyle that these vehicles require, and the matchmaking at 5.3 is currently rather unforgiving.
