On the other hand, the US F-4E has to give up its Sidewinders in lieu of the Mavs and doesn’t have access to single mounts, sooo… trade-off (?)
I remind you that we have an F4F with AMRAAMs
those puny sidewinders can absolutely go leave if we can have 3x the mavericks instead
For me the bigger issue is that currently all imaging seekers and sensors have this annoying bug to be completely out of LOS in SIM, that goes for Mav’s, TGP’s, …
And guess what…this is not all that is wrong with the F-4Fs…
F-4F (early): has AIM-9J, which the Bundeswehr never equipped
F-4F (late): has AIM-9J, which it never used, but is missing the AIM-9L, which it was equipped with IRL
F-4F ICE: is missing the IRIS-T
IRIS-T was only used on it for testing the missile and never in service with the F4F-ICE
besides that this missile would drag the thing to 14.3+ and nobody wants that
