…AHEAD is great lol some just do not know how to lead with the AHEAD round. Radar Screen aim will fire directly at the dot, but it needs to aim a bit more forward to hit the target or else it just pops behind the jets tail. I played the PGZ09 a good amount with a 9.3 K/D just using AHEAD for air kills. HE-VT is better but AHEAD isn’t bad either

Wouldn’t call AHEAD great but it’s practically invisible, so people won’t see it coming or where it is coming from. The only downside to the 35mm spam is the tracers that you can see a minute before reaching the ground battle area.
Stealth rounds is what makes it better honestly.
It’s still less reliable than HE-VT. It’s not even a debate.

Okay so you want them to remove the only AA’s these tech trees have (some moreso than others) for several BR ranges. Amazing idea
The alternatives are 30mm HS831L equipped gun-based AA’s firing APHEI-T mixed with HEI and APCI-T.
Also your AHEAD on Gepard fantasy is quite obscure because no in-service KDA based SPAAG fires AHEAD, nor has the fuze-programmer (PGZ09 is the sole exception but that doesnt matter for the others whatsoever.)
They’re not compatible and in some cases even predate AHEAD to begin with (Gepard, XM246 e.g.) End of discussion about AHEAD.

The Oerlikon 35mm Automatic Cannon Type KDA has a maximum firing range exceeding 12km, 4km is quite literally the effective range of the system (i.e. with a sufficient Probability of kill).
The KDA is used as a gun for naval purposes (anti sea-skimmers) aswell, it can fire >600 consecutive rounds without stopping once without any heat-related issues (other than increased barrel-wear, but oh well, better than getting slammed by a 500kg sea skimmer ig).
Bro you literally have several seconds to see the stream of tracers flying your way and lower/increase your altitude or roll left/right once.
It’s >18 tracers per second coming at you from… well, where do SPAA’s typically spawn at again? Could it be that red tank icon on the map? Surely not.
Fun fact, the alternative (and historically accurate) ammunition-type for Gepard 1A2 is FAPDS, fired in full belts with a MV of 1440m/s and first plate penetration almost identical to APDS-T (TLD-038).
The others dont have the appropriate V0 measuring coils to use it though, just Gepard 1 A2.

Less reliable, inferior sure, i never denied that. However, I wouldn’t say Trashy AHEAD though, its still an effective round and great to carry. Great for also hitting dropped ammunitions with the shrapnel. Better than pure HEI where I actually got to hit the target.

30mm Ahead on Puma is MEH , but that 35mm on PGZ is actually useable and bonus it doesnt have tracers.
Yeah WZ slaps harder no doubt, but there are some other problems in that against CAS.

Last time i hit a heli with that HE VT 105mm it only did scare it, explosions just dont do damage. So i deem them useless
My PGZ09 being the best performing gun SPAA in my record because of the AHEAD round.
Easily the easiest to use gun SPAA from my experience.
But that’s not relevant to Gepards being incapable of programming AHEAD.
