History:
The Darussalam class offshore patrol vessels are a class built by Lurssen Werft in Bremen-Vegesack, Germany. These vessels hold the title of the largest class of vessels in the Brunei navy. These vessels were made to replace the Waspada-class vessels preceding them.

This suggestion will focus on the first three vessels. Those are KDB Darussalam (06), KDB Darulehsan (07) and KDB Darulaman (08). They differ from the last ship KDB Daruttaqwa (09) as it lacks Exocets and has the much smaller MLG 27 cannon as it’s main armament instead the 57mm Bofors. KDB Daruttaqwa is/will be covered in it’s own suggestion.

After disputes over trying to order the Nakhoda Ragam-class corvettes from BAE which ended up being bought by Singapore and renamed to the Bung Tomo-class, Brunei would look towards Lurssen Werft for a new class of vessels, specifically OPVs.

The first 2 vessels keels (KDB Darussalam and KDB Darulashan) were laid down on 26 June 2009, launched in 12th of November, 2010 and commissioned on May 27th 2011. KDB Darulaman was commissioned on the 12th of August 2011.

In Exercise Pelican 2011, KDB Darulashan joined fellow Brunei naval vessels KDB Ijtihad, KDB Syafaat and Singapore’s RSS Stalwart in naval exercises. She would later attend future Exercise Pelican events in 2015 and 2019.

KDB Darussalam and KDB Darulamans participation in RIMPAC 2014 marked Brunei’s fist time in the multinational exercise. It also marked the first use of both vessels Exocet missiles.

Alongside French Floréal class frigate Vendémiaire, KDB Darussalam took part in PASSEX 2018.

KDB Darulashan also took part in AIME 2023 in the South China Sea, deploying for a week.

As of writing, all Darussalam class vessels are still serving the Brunei navy.

Great boat with naval eventually getting modern ships Darussalam class will punch above her weight class. Also the helicopter will be useful.

I don’t think the naval gameplay is really suited to missiles at this current moment.
However without functional missiles like the German Albatross class this would make a neat addition to whatever tech tree it would go to, i have no idea which though.

I’d say it depends on wether Gajin priorities operator country or manufacturing country.

If it’s operator, I could possibly see it and the other Brunei vessels in a naval subtree of Japan since there’s already a couple ASEAN nations already there in air and ground. Since (as far as I’m aware) Brunei’s unique vehicles are all naval vessels, it shouldn’t take much space from the others.

If it’s by manufacturer nation, this class and the Ijtihad class would go to Germany since both classes were built by Lürssen Werft.
