History:
KDB Daruttaqwa is the 4th and as of writing last of the Darussalam off shore patrol vessels. These vessels hold the title of the largest class of vessels in the Brunei navy. These vessels were made to replace the Waspada-class vessels preceding them.
KDB Daruttaqwa was built in Bremen-Vegesack. Ordered on the 12th of July 2012, she would be part of the second batch of vessels along with KBD Darulaman. Both vessels would be delivered in 2014.
The main curiosity of this specific ship is it’s armaments. While it has the 2 Oerlikon 20mm/85 KAA cannons like her sisters, she lacks the Exocet MM40 MK3s and the Bofors 57 mm Mk3 gun, instead having her main armament be a MLG 27 cannon. This is likely to allow Daruttaqwa to focus on civilian duties like disaster relief and military support roles while still having defensive armament.
KDB Daruttaqwa would join RSS Stalwart in Exercise Pelican, carrying out live fire and manoeuvring tasks from the 10th to the 13th of November 2017.
She would later take part in the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition 2019 from April 19th to the 22nd.
KDB Daruttaqwa would then take part in her largest scale exercise later that year, that being ADMM PLUS 19.
She along with VPNS Quang Trung, Xiangtan, MV Avatar, RSS Stalwart, ROKS Cheonjabong, HTMS Bhumibol Adulyadej, USS William P. Lawrence, HMAS Success, KD Lekiu, INS Kolkata, INS Shakti, KRI Halasan, JS Murasame, JS Izumo and ROKS Jeonbuk would train together to take part in anti terrorism operations.
To this day KDB Daruttaqwa is still in service.
