History : BNS Madhumati is a offshore patrol craft built in South Korea in Hyundai shipyard. It’s based off South Korean patrol vessels before it but differs in Vosper stabilisers and better fire equipment. She is designed in mind for anti piracy, coastal patrol, search and rescue and fishery protection.
She was delivered in October 1997 and commissioned on the 18th of February 1988 after being ordered in July 1995. For a majority of her career, Madhumati has had a generally uneventful service but did see a couple of notable non combat events.
In 2008, Madhumati along with Leopard class Abu Bakr and Type 07 Nirbhoy intercepted 4 Myanmar navy vessels that were sailing in a contested region inside of the Bay of Bengal. No shots were fired and the confrontation ended peacefully.
In 2014 Madhumati and Castle class Bijoy deployed to Lebanon to join UNIFIL and help conduct air surveillance, maritime interdictions and training Lebanese navy personal until the Beirut explosion moderately damaged Bijoy and injured 21 of her crew, forcing her to be replaced by Type 056 Sangram. Madhumati was unharmed by the explosion. Madhumati was deployed from 17th of May 2010 to 14th of June 2014. She returned to Bangladesh on the 11th of August 2014.
The last notable action was multiple goodwill visits to foreign ports on her return to Bangladesh including Port of Colombo in Sri lanka, Chennai port in India and the ports of Salalah and Sultan Qaboos in Oman.
There was a tender in 2020 for Madhumati to get anti ship missiles but as of 2026, still hasn’t received them. BNS Madhumati is still in service as of writing, still being the flagship of
