HISTORY
336 Tigers Squadron was a squadron of the Royal Norwegian Air Force, which was operational in the period from 1949–2000. The unit was established at Gardermoen in July 1949 when it was separated from 331 Squadron’s Vampire wing. In this squadron, the Vampire aircraft were replaced by the F-84 Thunderjet in 1953, which in turn were replaced when the F-5(G) aircraft were acquired in the late 1960s.
With one of the F-5’s in this squadron, Tail number “134” in 1997 being painted with the tiger stripes and tiger emblem, which was then voted as the best tiger-painted aircraft at the Royal International Tattoo that same year. This aircraft was as a result of this clearly the flagship of the 336 Squadron which was given the name “336 Tigers”, and it was then of course used in the suqadron’s emblem as seen in the images in this suggestion. This was not the first F-5 to be painted in with tiger emblems nor stripes, with another with the tail number “208” being painted as well some years prior, so this emblem dates back to the mid 1980’s.
This is a decorative emblem, and with a strong relation to the new F-5A(G) event aircraft, and could be a very unique and realistic decal to be obtained tough an event, such as the monthly decals, or in a future battlepass or other relevant events.
I think we have to many decals that are not really for vehicles, whereas decals that were reeally standard on the vehicles are way to scarce. (Sidenote: What I hate most are those comic style decals with white borders, like e.g. all those mythical creatures: They look like stickers from comics we used to get when kids…)
That makes sense, there are lots of emblems, drawings or other decorations used on vehicles. A big part of the reason i am suggesting this specific emblem is as its kind of the “logo” of the squadron, and that its more or less a motive of the new in-game F-5.
That swallow is a specific marking to the 336 Tigers squadron, as after July 1, 1972, the department codes were removed, as well as department insignia from the aircrafts in the Air Force. But the 336 Squadron painted the swallow in their logo on the tail fin. As long as it was painted in washable paint, they were allowed to do so, so that it could be quickly removed in case of combat :)
336’s all time logo/emblem, Kinda suprised this weren’t one of the emblems/logos in the event haha
They look a little strange, but don’t think its too bad as it is to my knowlegde only visible to the owner. What about histocial cartoon decorations then? :p
