3 minutes of fuel in the 163?

wtf is goiung on? is this a bug?

Realism. They were rocket powered point interceptors. Manned SAMs.

They increased the fuel consumption, which decreases the minutes of fuel they have.

It went from just under 7 mins to just under 4 mins. I think this change should push all Me-163s and the Ki-200 to 7.7 due to the vastly reduced fuel load.

IRL the rocket throttle in the original a/c did not actually increase endurance at all - it had only 4 settings from 0 - 100% thrust.

The later C and D versions of the motor solved this with dual combustion chambers - the D was supposed to power the Natter - I don’t know if any 163’s had the improved versions.

Good riddance!

It wasn’t OP, unlike another certain rocket plane.

Turns and flies faster than damn near everything it faced. No1’s gonna miss fighting that UFO.

It doesn’t fly faster than several planes at it’s own BR.

All you need to do is to not let it kill for 4 minutes.

All Me-163/Ki-200 variants should be 8.0 with an airspawn, or 7.7 without one after these changes. Gaijin has nerfed a plane that was already struggling, and will now do nothing to fix it.

Even planes like Su-11 and F-80A-5 could do literally nothing against it. Even higher BR planes like A-4E are completely hopeless. Seeing Me 163 is a positive change.

Su-11, really. Su-11 was way more broken. Also yeah, A-4E is food, but thats an A-4E problem.
Dunno about the F-80 though

F-80A-5 can’t outrun or outturn, even planes as broken as Su-11 can’t outrun or outturn, thus Me-163 is more broken than Su-11.

Have you played the Me-163?

Yes a plane a whole BR lower won’t be as good. The F-80 will experience the same thing facing F-84s, F-86s, Mig-15s, and the La-200.

Why are you comparing an 8.0 plane (that has some massive downsides) with a good 7.0.

Just don’t use 100% throttle.

Specifically on 100% throttle. Lower throttles have reduced fuel consumption.

So you hate good aircraft?
Hmmm…

So sacrifice half your thrust? Do you think Me-163 players didn’t already know that?

I know that it uses less fuel on lower throttle levels, but that doesn’t excuse Gaijin nerfing a plane and keeping it at the same BR, especially since certain variants+Ki-200 were already overtiered in the first place.

A good plane that just got alot worse?

No, I just enjoyed the Me 163, and cracked a little joke about never playing it again.

I dont really know the 163 very well…but the wiki states that the initial version had 7.5min of powered flight (not mentioning power level)…and that it took 3min to climb to combat altitude (i am assuming the typical altitude of incoming bombers 12.000m).

In ARCADE it would make sense to consider that the 3min were spent getting into combat…and therefore an endurance of 4.5min…eventually at max level…

Of course…as any vehicle…if an adjustment to match to reality made some vehicle inferior to what it was, a reduction in BR should be considered…
Just bear in mind that adjusting BR due to limited fuel is not so common… :)

To me personally it is irrelevant :) in Arcade ground the 163 lasts less than 3min anyway :)

EDIT:
BTW…i dont know how Me163 is supposed to be played in RB…by default, it should be used as an interceptor “missile”…3min climb to combat…then a couple passes, runs out of fuel and glide back to base…
IRL it could only intercept bombers that overflew close to its base…and it was never meant to fight vs allied fighters…takes too long :)…unless the fighter (or recon plane IRL) is not paying attention and does not evade…

Just a random newbie player passing by :)

It kinda sucks to see the plane I like take a massive blow to its potential, but we must make it work with what we have now.

I usually climb up to 4,000 m after takeoff, since most of the furballs in the MM range are formed below that altitude. It takes a bit less than two minutes to get there, so we have about two minutes of fuel to engage the enemies and RTB.

It’s definitely a huge nerf, but we’ve got to find the bright side even in the darkest hours and seek the way to utilize it. Since the recent patch, the fuel consumption has increased from ~5.3kg/s to ~8.4kg/s. This means that the 163 gets lighter 1.6 times faster than before, resulting in an even more rapid improvement of overall flight performance over time. It can actually work even better when a furball forms early in the match.

Of course, we must conserve the fuel whenever possible by controlling the throttle. However, if we hesitate to use the 100% thrust too much, we might not utilize the only advantage we have now.

The 163 can RTB across the half of the map with just one second of fuel if uninterrupted, so I’d like to cautiously recommend trying to take down as many enemies as possible to reduce the potential hazards that may appear on the way back, even if it costs most of the fuel left.

While at br’s it its not even a viable option.

Lmao you can compensate anything if you are skilled like that…
That’s like… Yeah you can enjoy it, pretty much any planes.
Though it’s just the story of 2~3% players blessed with the amount of brain cells you are given by the lord…
Keep playing Ki-61-ii to make it 4.7 while Ki-100 stays at 4.0. The thing is that Ki-61-ii is straight up inferior to Ki-100 since Ki-100 is literally 300kg lighter, Ki-100 is made from Ki-61-ii almost a year later in the war, and the armament&bomb load stays the same, it’s only 20kph faster across the altitude but nobody plays Ki-61-ii except for few skilled players genuinely interested in the vehicle, so that it’s at 2 steps higher BR even though Ki-100 is a straight upgrade. You can keep Me163 at much higher BR if you do what you do.

Dying to Me 163 & Ki-200 in a much faster jet is equivalent to “Erm… I died to A6M2 in my P-51C” in prop tier. Unless the player is already chased by superior planes so that a chasing me 163 catches up to the last resort turn fight. Anyway, the same thing happens in the prop tier though. Faster plane & Maneuverable but slow plane chasing one enemy at the same time, tends to result in the more maneuverable plane scoring the kill.
